- Arcanus Aecor | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Town Updates Arcanus Aecor Arcanus Aecor Year 954 Month of Frigus A large earthquake shook the lands. Unfortunately for the private people living inside of Arcanus Aecor, the portal they had spent generations building was destroyed. Though, they did not seem to mind. Not having a lot of traffic from the land dwellers, the people really had no inclination to rebuild until over a thousand years later. They never finished their work due to the buried part of the portal being on the topside. Year 10,012 Month of Ceres An unexpected quake has lead to the uncovering of a portal located near the Southern coast. Low and behold! It worked! Cautiously, some of the land dwellers made their way inside only to discover the long hidden people of Arcanus Aecor. Though private, they were very welcoming. Now a part of Simul, the portals have been fully repaired. Bruma 20th, 10,018 Read the entirety in Simul Quarterly "Portals to the 'outside' cities will be cut off from the mainland, effective immediately. Due to the lack of cooperation from Arcanus Aecor, Occultatem Terra, and Astu Aether, the capitol has decided, for the moment, that it is best to shut the portals down. Any and all rations that are needed for survival will be transported by the King's Guard once per month until each city can contain itself or they comply. This also stands for the islands of Curet Insula. Since the obliteration of the bridge that connected both lands, it has been decided to keep the severance until further notice." - Humanoid Races Native to Simul | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Lore Stuff Humanoid Races Native to Simul Humanoid Races Native to Simul In this thread, you will find the list of races custom and/or native to Simul. These are usually races that have been spoken of in the lore fairly frequently, or have been part of Simul since forever. If you plan on making a character that is based from Simul, and would like more information on some of the eldest races, feel free to sift through! THIS LIST IS NOT A LIST YOU HAVE TO USE Humans 📌Humans are probably one of the oldest and most vast races Simul has to offer. 📌Most humans have an average lifespan of 90 years and most are non-naturally-magical. 📌Their height and weight can vary, with the average male being around 5'10" at about 170 pounds and females averaging just below at 5'8" and 150 pounds. 📌Humans have been part of Simul since the very beginning over 10 thousand years ago. Dwarves of Dun'Lorn 📌The dwarves of Dun'Lorn have been part of Simul since before the first record, over 10 thousand years ago. They have kept the amount of time they have been in the Alderman Mountains a secret. 📌The Average lifespan of a mostly pure Dun'Lorn Dwarf is around 720 years. 📌Most Dwarves are no more than 5 feet tall at the max. Average is about 3'5" and most are fairly dense weighing in at about 200 pounds. 📌Usually sun kissed skinned and dark haired, most of them have locks of raven, chocolate or brilliant crimson. 📌About half of the females can easily grow a beard, so there is that. 📌The dwarves have no magic affinity, and very rarely trust magic. Druidic Elves of Occultatum Terra 📌How long the Elves of Occultatum Terra have been inside Simul is still a mystery, but assumed to be longer than the Dwarves of Dun'Lorn. 📌These elves have an average lifespan of 2000 years. 📌These elves average in height around 6' and weigh very little. Most of the time, no more than 120 pounds. 📌The elves also have an affinity to land speed, being able to run fairly quickly compared to humans. Most average at 30 mph. 📌Occultatum Terra Elves are also very attuned to natural magics, such as magics in nature or healing. Ancient Concordians 📌During the War of the Brothers, most Concordians were killed off. The remaining did not return to Concordia, leaving it to nature, and most attributes were bred out with time. 📌Most Concordians were often compared to elves. Having fair, peach skin with stark white hair and sky blue eyes, they appeared fragile. Though fragile physically, mentally, they were stone. They were a tall race, often taller than 5'10" and weighing light at around 130 pounds at that height. 📌Concordians were kinetic healers by nature. They would heal organic matter and mend inorganic matter with telekinesis. This was the only supernatural ability they had. 📌Their average lifespan was about 300 years. Fae of Arbrestor and Oak Silva 📌The Fae of Simul have been around nearly as long as humans. 📌Fairly short in stature, most full blood fae are no taller than 5' and weigh light at about 90 pounds at that height. 📌Fae tend to have brightly colored, translucent wings (Like butterflies, but more see through). They have an incredible flight speed as well, averaging 80 mph. 📌Simul Fae have affinity for nature based magics. 📌Fae from Simul have an average lifespan of 1000 years. 📌They have an extraordinary weakness to iron. Snow Elves of Concordia (Present) 📌The Snow Elves of ShimmerGloom arrived in Simul in the year 10,012. 📌These particular elves have an extensive lifespan. Most averaging 5000 years. 📌Tend to be pale with white hair and blue eyes. Their elongated ears also tend to be a bit longer than other elf races. 📌Most of these elves are on the shorter side with an average height in males being 5'8" and females a hair shorter. They are also lightweight, with males at average weight being around 150 pounds. 📌These elves have an affinity for healing, water, and ice magics. However, they tend to expand their palette to other types as well. 📌They also have physical prowess when it comes to strength and speed. No strangers to combat when it came to defending their home in ShimmerGloom, they can definitely take a punch and dish it back. Feral People of Curet Insula 📌99% of the people from Curet Insula have some sort of animalistic traits (Physical and genetically) 📌The people live on average 200 years 📌Though very primitive, they are very open to learning about new technologies and ways of life (This often does not change their own way of life) 📌They lack modesty. Skin is Skin, as they say 📌Most of them are in peak physical shape 📌Over half of the population is rather feral in personality 📌There are no averages in height due to their animalistic nature (Depends on the animal they are genetically produced from) 📌Mating is as normal humans Admin Entry Normal Text Title Subtitle Normal Text Post Posted: Updated: Views Back to Top

- Sudbury | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Town Updates Sudbury Sudbury Year 10,012 Month of Calor The blight of Sidisi has now reached Sudbury. Korrig had it easy compared to the total destruction of the magical town once known as Sudbury. Now, a giant mess of nothing, it appears Sidisi will not stop there. Will this terror come to an end? We can only hope. Year 10,012 Month of Ignis The beast master Kragg has come and cleaned out the city on Timothy Slade's orders. However...he had stuck around for a little longer than anticipated. The people of Simul came together and took out the smallest of minions, driving the large troll back out. Now the city is rebuilding and thriving as it once did. Year 10,012 Month of Ceres The city of Sudbury has finally been rebuilt. The good people of the kingdom had come from all over to try and restore the city to its former glory, and nearly succeeding. Almost as if the Lich King Sidisi had never laid his disturbing touch upon the land. Though, his name still rings in the ears of those who lived through the ordeal. Messis 2, 10,017 Read more in BREAKING NEWS Laughter and merriment could be heard throughout the kingdom as the farmers were once again celebrating another good harvest. Food and drink flowed freely as the unsuspecting people of Simul were watched from the shadows. Hooded figures lurked just outside of anyone's sight, their eyes set on one target; the very food the farmers were celebrating . Not just what they had harvested already, but all of their fields. Every piece of wheat, bean, or ear of corn was doomed. The robed figures kept watch just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. They waited until almost everyone had gone to sleep. Those that remained in the fields or the barns were too drunk to notice anything. Even if they had been sober, they would not be able to stop what was about to happen. Once the robed figures felt it was time to move, they did . Flames roared to life around them to burn every last plant to cinders. Nothing was spared. Nothing. Anything and everything that stood in their way burned with the precious crops. Enough food for dozens of families turned to ash before anyone realized what was going on. The smell of smoke and the sound of roaring flames pulled everyone from their beds. Horror and panic hit everyone who witnessed it. Men, women and children all did what they could to put out the flames...though, their efforts were in vain. The heat from the fires evaporated the water before it could even reach the flames. Screams for water...screams for help. Many could even be heard calling out to the mages they had shunned. Asking... no, begging for help. Those that could have helped cowered behind their locked doors, fearful of what could happen if they rendered aide. Great numbers of magical and non-human beings fled from their homes as registrations became more common, alongside the growing racism against them, leaving the human communities more vulnerable than they had ever dreamed. This was not an isolated incident; farms across the kingdom were burned. Dry Gulch, SkyHaven, Subury, Wingston, Timberholde, Ferax Villum, and even Concordia were hit alongside multiple other villages and farming areas. It was almost the same story at every farm that was burning: Those that could have helped refused. A small few cities managed to save food. Their mages were quick to respond and quell as many of the fires as they could. However, even with their quick actions, much of their food was destroyed. What could be salvaged was inventoried and stored in the safest places people could find. Alongside the massive loss to the winter food supply, hundreds of people and livestock were also slain. The countless lives and resources that were lost in the night left all that witnessed the horrors of it choking on the smoke and ash of their dreams . What witnesses hoped was a sick nightmare was revealed to be anything but. The nightmare was real and no one knew what to do. Cries of sorrow and a strange letter filled the air. The letter was simply written on paper bearing the Guardian's seal; “We of the CONGREGATION will not be silent. If the King won't hear our cries, we will make him. We will starve him out if we have to, along with anyone else who would follow his laws.” The news of all the fires across the kingdom had the streets of Eleutheria humming with hectic whispers or outright blame against magic users. Conspiracy theories about what happened spread like wildfire; The letters from the “CONGREGATION”, and the Guardians had everyone terrified. They were all looking to Ferren for answers. No word came for hours, confirming for the people that what happened was far worse than before. Eventually, Ferren emerged from the castle to stand on the highest balcony of the capitol. His normally charismatic voice was filled with sadness as it echoed through the heart of Simul. Even his appearance suggested he had not slept. His clothes were a rumbled mess and his hair was far from tamed. Redness surrounded his eyes from intense crying. “It is with a heavy heart that I address you all in such a manner. I am sure you have all heard the news by now. Our kingdom…has suffered a tremendous loss. The crops that normally sustain us through the long winter have been destroyed. Burned to a crisp alongside the brave men and women who tried to stop the inferno. Their sacrifice ensured that everyone could gather and defeat our oldest of foes. The cause of the fires is still unknown but we believe it to be a series of horrible accidents. I would love nothing more than to believe that, but with witnesses coming forward, it has been apparent that the attacks were perpetrated by magic users. The best people we have are looking to find the cause of what caused this tragedy…” Ferren's voice cracked as more mist threatened to fall from his eyes, the acting king haphazardly wiped away the tears that never fell as he tried to compose himself. He kept his face hidden for a few minutes in silence before he moved his hands to speak again. “We can move on from this tragedy as one but I need the help of every Simulian. We do not have enough food for the winter. As of today, all food is to be brought here to Eleutheria so it can be rationed out appropriately. All are welcome to come and get your daily meals. Those of you traveling great distances will be allowed to get enough for a few days. Every month, we will be shipping out ration bundles to each city and community to sustain. All magical beings wanting their rations are required to provide their registrations. This is to keep us all safe and uphold peace of mind. We have also decided to place a special barrier around the capitol to help further protect the food we will all need to survive. It kills me to have to do this to you all. Rationing will leave us all hungry as we try our best to make it through these trying times. I encourage everyone to do what they can to provide for their families. If you have extra, please give it to those that need it more than you. Hunters, share your bounties as you get them. Farmers that have lost their crops should reach out to us. We can provide seed to hopefully grow something before the cold seasons hit. We will make it through and come out better for it. May the Gods bless us and help usher us through the trials they felt, we as a people, needed to endure.” "If you have any questions relating to the recent events, any citizen of Simul is welcome to write to me directly. You may also tag Malum Distantia via Simul Social. Please Simul, love thy neighbor as they were your own family. We will succeed." OOC Note: Sudbury, as a whole, refused to follow these orders. This lead to the city being marched upon by the Siphon Mages and forced to provide 80% of their stores which were brought to Eleutheria. - Simul Military | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Lore Stuff Simul Military Simul Military There are different factions within the Simulian Military and Constables ("Police"). Below, you will find each and their specialties, playability, information, etc. Elite AKA Siphon Mages The Elite faction of the Simul Military is the Royal Faction. This sect of specially trained mages usually reside within Eleutheria. A large portion of them live and work within the Black Garden Asylum, keeping the biggest of the baddies from escaping and doing more harm. The rest tend to keeping the Royal Family safe and sound. The royal military consists of many, many arch mages. Since the royal family consists of humans with no magical or supernatural abilities, they have a literal army to keep them safe. A good portion of the military stationed in the Royal Level of Eleutheria are master elementalists. Though they tend to try and keep destructive magics at bay and contained, they do have the capabilities to create very large spells. The biggest arsenal in this branch of the Simul Military are the Siphoning Arch Mages AKA The Syphons. Their job and duty is to continuously drain everything around them. Life force, energy, magic, mana, enchantments, anything considered "life" or an energy source, they are capable of draining into oblivion. Each soldier can successfully completely drain an area of all 'life' in about three seconds given concentration. They are usually accompanied by the other mages, who are purposely shielded from the drain. When accompanied, the Siphon Mage will need to take a couple more seconds to completely drain their area of a 100 foot radius. These mages are usually spread out in an area and are undecipherable from the others. They serve no other purpose than to absorb energy in all forms. A portion of these soldiers have flying mounts. A larger portion have riding mounts. The majority will be on foot to get into battle better. Play-ability: None. This is reserved for Staff only Collosus Corps The Colossus Corps do not have the same type of magic as The Elite. Most of them deal with brute strength, using most types of melee weapons in order to mow their way through things. Their armor is enchanted to take a steady beating from physical and magical damage, making them more like wrecking balls than anything else. They are highly trained for a minimum of five years in a wide array of CQC. Most are very large individuals, but their size does not seem to slow their very fluid and rapid motions. These particular soldiers are generally half-giant related, or large beings in general. They will not normally have mounts, however, those who do have mounts that can accommodate their size. Play-ability: Open. Case by Case Basis. Constable With crime in every part of the map, despite how peaceful Simul strives to be, there is a type of soldier that can reside anywhere. A Constable is Simul's version of a police force. Not only do they seek out to collect on bounties, which often is their only way of pay if they choose to be an independent Constable (Hired Constables stay within their given city and work 50 hours a week), but they keep the peace in their chosen place of residence. These can be anyone from a normal human wanting to protect his home land to a wizard looking to help the community clean up the crime. These particular soldiers will be called to aid should there be a wide scale event/war. They have been formerly trained with the rest of the Simulian army, and often go through many years of training to make sure the instructors have missed no abilities, nor any way to make abilities they already have better. The minimum training a Constable can go through is 3 years. Play-ability: Open. Case by Case Basis. Uniforms: Feel free to adjust them to your liking The Guardians The guardians are a special force/army of people who have made it their life’s mission to protect the weak. They do not enforce Simulian law like Constables or other members of the Simul Military; Their job is to protect Simul from the things everyone else ignores, the creatures or beings they fear to confront. They also research the anomalies and artifacts everyone locks away out of fear. This faction is placed in many realms over all of existence, but this is the information for Simul's Faction. Listed below will be basic information about The Guardians. Ranks, the perks each ranks get, the rules Guardians must follow, etc: 📌Anyone seeking to make their character a Guardian has to speak to Lyanna Legend and Silver Drafaylum. The profile will be reviewed in depth before a decision is made. Any questions about anything listed below can be sent to Silver Drafaylum or Lyanna Legend. 📌No matter what squad someone is placed in, they are expected to be somewhat skilled when it comes to combat. If not, they will be encouraged to train and get better. 📌Anyone wishing to join the advanced squads for each group must contact Silver Drafaylum or Lyanna Legend to get the okay, regardless of initial character approval. 📌Guardians are paid well and even earn extra cash on the side by picking up bounties or slaying evil creatures. 📌Guardians are not required to stay and patrol a certain city. They are allowed to travel as they need to or want to. They also have the option to live and operate in one location. Rules All Guardians Must Follow 📌The leaders trust their members to do what is right and be as professional as possible. With The Guardians being as wide spread as they are, it is impossible to NOT have trust. 📌No murdering innocents. A Guuardian's job is to save lives. Punishments for this will be different depending on varying factors. 📌No heinous acts against other Guardians. Punishment for this is imprisonment in Guardian Fall. Time lengths will vary depending on other factors. (Real life hours/days will be discussed at time of sentencing) 📌Dark magic and black magic are restricted skills. Those wishing to use it have to show a good degree of skill in its use and be approved by your current Sage. Unregistered use of Dark/Black magic will result in suspension from duty. 📌All Guardians have to follow Simulian Law or they will be arrested, or be subject to Simulian AND Guardian consequences. Ranks 📌Guardian Trainee - This is the lowest rank someone can be. Those of this rank will often be paired with a squad for training. This method gives Guardian-hopefuls more specialized training Guardian Trainees are only given access to the Guardians Training Hall. Even then their access to certain materials and gear is restricted. 📌Guardian - This rank is where most people will be placed. It means they are skilled enough to operate by themselves. Those with this rank will still be assigned to a squad and superiors to report to. Those with this rank get complete access to the Guardians Training hall. They also gain access to the Priestess Library. Access to certain tomes and scrolls is restricted. 📌Guardian-Captain - Once a member reaches this rank, they will be given their own squad to command. They will also be given access to materials and information lower ranks do not. Captains have access to everything the previous ranks do with a few select restrictions. They do not have access to classified materials for instance. 📌Master - This rank is given to those that have a true mastery of their given field. A candidate for the rank of Master is also required to go through a series of exams. These exams are tough, most do not pass the first time. If one can reach this rank, they are given almost complete control on how they operate. The majority of people with this rank spend a good deal of time supervising other squads. Those that do not often travel and take jobs wherever they can. Masters also get their own private labs and a research budget. They also get access to classified information and materials. Masters have almost no restrictions. The only thing Masters do not get is access to is Sage only information. 📌Sage - This is the highest rank that can be achieved in the Guardians. The only way to attain this rank is to be hand picked by the leaders. Those that reach this rank have proven themselves to be trustworthy and among the best of the best. Sages can travel freely and do almost whatever they want. The only people a Sage reports to are the Leaders. The only things Sages do not have access to are items and information the Leaders deemed to dangerous for anyone to know about beyond themselves. They also get their own private labs and portals located in the towers of Gul Academui. Only eighteen slots exist for this rank and six are taken. Sages have virtually no restrictions. 📌Leader - This is a rank that can not be obtained easily. The Guardians have gone without Leaders a few times in their history. Only the truly gifted and powerful members are chosen. Currently, the Guardians are being led by three men: Silver Drafaylum, Lysander Korvin, and Dragon SkyDancer. They have lead the Guardians for well over three hundred years. (This rank can currently not be obtained) No restrictions at all; Leaders have access to everything in the Guardians. Squads Anyone entering the Guardians can be expected to be placed in one of six branches. Each one requires different skill sets and training. Each of these branches has an advanced squad that only has one purpose. That purpose varies between each branch. 📌Non Magical Combat - This is the largest group in the Guardians. Most that get placed here specialize in regular combat. Those that are placed here are encouraged to train and sharpen their skills. This squad is lead by the Smith Sage, Barska StoneSkin. He is a no nonsense leader who expects the best out of his subordinates. The dwarf is no pushover. 📌Turtles - The Turtles are the advanced squad. Members of this squad specialize in defending against sieges and repelling armies. Even without the use of magic they are tough opponents. 📌Spell Swords - Spell Swords are the smallest squad in the Guardians. What they lack in number they make up for in skill. All members of this group excel in both physical and magical combat. They are often sent to different squads to fill multiple roles. This squad is led by the Void Sage, Falvir. He is a pretty relaxed leader, who often lets his Captains handle most things. 📌The advanced group for the Spell Swords are known as Reapers. Every member of this squad is skilled in Dark magic. Reapers specialize in fighting Dark mages and worse. Their missions are often the most dangerous. 📌Intelligence - This group is dedicated to gathering any information they can get their hands on. They often collect information about dangerous creatures. Members of this group will also collect other information that could be useful. This branch is led by Jessa Heartsong. She operates out of a bar in Vex Mora. Jessa is a high strung commander who expects everyones best at all time. She is also known as the Torture Sage. 📌The more advanced members of this branch are referred to by other Guardians as Jessa’s Songbirds. They are often sent on missions far too dangerous for normal members. 📌Mages/Wizards - All members of this group are typically skilled magic users. This is the second-largest group in the Guardians, most magic users will be placed here. Members of this group often spend their time in labs doing research some do go into the field. Those that do venture outside of the lab are tasked with seeking out and researching anything they can find on magic. This squad is lead by the Snow Sage Eldrin Frost 📌The advanced group of this branch does not really have a name, at least the current members have not thought of one. This group only has six slots. The reasons for this is the nature of their work. Everyone assigned to this squad deal with the things too dangerous, or strange to be running free. Two of the six slots are filled currently. 📌Healing/Medical Corp - This branch of the Guardians specializes in healing. All members of this branch are required to have a wide range of medical skills. The majority of members in this squad won't see combat, unless it cannot be avoided. This squad is led by the Wolf Sage Quenya Drafaylum. 📌The advanced group for this squad is known as The Mothers Hand. All members of the group specialize in extreme healing and surgeries. All members of this group are skilled surgeons able to reattach limbs. They can also perform more complex surgeries. 📌Technology Corp - This is a new branch started by Falvir Pierce. The only purpose of this group is to research and develop technology that can help the Guardians be more effective in the field. Due to the technology introduced into Simul from Detroit, the Leaders felt it good to have this squad. This branch is lead by Ryker “Falvir” Pierce. He is also known as the Void Sage. 📌Sages - This squad is named for the members that populate it. All the members of this squad have obtained the rank of Sage. Most oversee the inner workings of the Guardians while others are in the field. Those that are in the field are tasked with taking on beings or creatures too powerful for anyone else. 📌There is a special status among the Sages and that is to be a Council Member. The Sage Council are the ones who make sure the Guardians run smoothly. They also act as a judicial body for the rest of the Guardians. Current Sages on the Council Smith Sage- Barska StoneSkin Torture Sage- Jessa Heartsong Wolf Sage- Quenya Drafaylum Void Sage- Ryker “ Falvir” Pierce Snow Sage- Eldrin Frost Spirit Sage- Robyn Geist This next list will contain what each rank is given access to. It will start with the things every member has access to, before moving on to things restricted to a certain rank. - Skyhaven | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Town Updates Skyhaven Skyhaven In the year of 10,001, month of Aestus, a massive tragedy struck the Kingdom of Simul. Many years ago, the demon that had destroyed Wish Well had continued its path of destruction to anything surrounding. The closest city was next on its list. SkyHaven. Before the sun could peek over the mountains and warm the windows of homes, SkyHaven was hit with what could only be described as...a plague of destruction. It began to destroy anything in its wake. Homes. Shops. People....Anything it could sink its power into was immediately obliterated. ...That was when the people took action. Grabbing whatever weapons they could, and preparing their spells, they created a wall that the singular demon could not break through on its own. In a bright display of agony, the demon failed. But not before the destruction had already taken hold. It had successfully taken out nearly half of the city. Still, not nearly enough for the people to give up. The demon soon disappeared, leaving SkyHaven to only tell the tales of what they think happened and to rebuild their homes. We will succeed." OOC Note: SkyHaven, as a whole, refused to follow these orders. This lead to the city being marched upon by the Siphon Mages and forced to provide 80% of their stores which were brought to Eleutheria. - Timberholde | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Town Updates Timberholde Timberholde Year 10,013, Month of Dissilio From the center of the large city, a rumble vibrated to the immediate surrounding establishments. From the small rumble, something BIG came. There was not much warning for the townsfolk, but luckily, no one was injured by the odd yet inspiring incident. From the ground, to hundreds of feet into the air, a beautiful Tree of Life has made Timberholde its home. Year 10,014 Month of Stirps After many weeks of rebuilding and burying the dead, Timberholde has been rebuilt by its own citizens. Though it is large and in charge as it was before, the population has steeply dropped. This does make the home prices low, in hopes that more populated areas and visitors from other lands will choose to make Timberholde their home. Dissilio 5th, 10,1017 Taken from BREAKING NEWS: It is my displeasure to bring the most current news to Simul. As much as I would love to not have to relay this information, it is my duty to keep you all informed and as safe as I can. With that, I must weave together the details of last night’s horrors. Before the sun began to descend, something else fell upon our great kingdom. From what we can gather, the first attack was in Korrig. Despite the docks already having taken a major hit, it appears the assailants decided they needed to come back to finish the job. Unfortunately, the structures are a complete loss. Even worse, it has been reported that more than 20 people are still missing while the casualties are nearing the same number and injuries have topped 33. From what we can tell, the next attack was shortly thereafter in Timberholde. Every city entrance was reportedly blown apart and virtually sealing the city inside of itself. This also included grave damage to the newest addition, the train. The station and surrounding area have been destroyed beyond repair. Casualties have reached 67, more than 40 have been injured and another 17 are still missing. Another attack mere hours after came in the form of another explosion. This one took out the entirety of the bridge from the mainland to Curet Insula. No fatalities have been reported, but it has only been a few hours since receiving the news and searches are still in effect. I wish I could say that I have reported everything. I wish I could tell you great people that we can recover from this. I wish I had the magic words…something to give you all hope. Unfortunately, with this last piece of information I have to bear, I cannot fathom how we are to unite. At just past 8 last night, Eleutheria and our royal family was attacked. According to the guards and surviving staff, nothing was out of the ordinary until they heard Hilda scream and then what sounded like a man being tortured. This man is assumed to be King Alfred. Apparently, shortly after, a fire broke out, causing many of the people who also lived in the castle to flee with little to nothing to the second story of the city. Still, 13 are missing and feared dead. The royal family was never located, even after the fire was quelled. There was but a note left at the scene. This note had a confession and confessions to more crimes that were, unfortunately, confirmed this morning. The entire Fortescue bloodline has been murdered. Sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandfathers and grandmothers… all of the bloodline has been taken from Simul in the most horrid of ways. I cannot even begin to write what information I have been given. Simul…please. PLEASE be safe. I know we are now living in a very uncertain time. I have faith that we will be okay. Please, look after yourselves, your families, your neighbors and your cities. This is Flynn, signing off. - Just a Little History | Kingdom of Simul
Library of Shit Lore Stuff Just a Little History Just a Little History Just some.... light reading. Enjoy! Chapter 1 -- The Beginning Years 0-1000 There are always beginnings to stories. Simul's starts over ten thousand years ago. It has been said by the majority to recent days, that the land is much older than that. No one knows the whole truth, but speculation leads most to believe the Gods created life. Of course. Who else would have, right? From the greens to the blues to the yellows and purples and reds, the soil of Simul was filled with many beautiful things. Flora, fauna, humanoids... The first 'intelligent' species to walk upon the lands were humans. Plain, magicless, and primitive. Soon after landing on the massive rock, it was given the name of Simul, a name that meant "coexist" to the natives. With mass amounts of land to discover, families separated, homes were built, and communities started to form. The first of many great cities was Timberholde. Toward the center of the continent, the first family known as the Trimbles, started the creation of the large community. A slow beginning with hardships and good times alike, the raising of Timberholde proved to be fruitful. After nearly one hundred years, the city had grown from a population of twenty one to over five thousand. With word spreading of the beautiful architecture and homes to spare, all walks of life made the decision to seek the scene; A fully functional city that had already made its mark as the trade center of the kingdom. Meanwhile, north of the massive city, the newly forming city of Eleutheria had just gotten its foothold. Construction was slow and daunting as the city planned on being in the center of an island. Without much in terms of hands, productivity nearly came to a stop in the early years. Once Timberholde had come to fruition, news traveled much easier about the grand city being built. All over the continent, cities began to rise, most of which can still be seen in current day. The first humans soon after made their stands in Ferax Villum, Sudbury and Skyhaven. The others soon followed.....but there was much more. Buildings, homes and all colors of establishments began to form, almost magically, overnight. Rumors spread, fingers pointed, witchcraft! Nearly two hundred years into the beginnings of Simul, magic introduced itself into the fold. However, it was not welcomed as many of our readers would like to believe. It was new, frightening, and unknown. It would take decades for people to become comfortable and accept this new addition to life. What started as fear did slowly melt into curiosity and teaching one another how to use such things. Magic schools formed in the biggest of cities at the time. It wasn't enough. People wanted to learn more. With limited knowledge and the wonder on how it came to be in the first place, people began to explore even more of the land. Reaching places in the mountains and desert where only the brave had the courage to reach, some returned with stories of peril or riches while others did not return. Most thought the worst of the lost souls. Yet, more cities began to form, and word traveled of these new and exciting places, families were reunited generations later. Soon, stories circulated, filling in the gaps of so many questions. One in particular family, dubbed The Legends, was not only new, but looked different than most of the humans roaming around the newly forming Simul. No one could figured out where they were from, only that they had appeared one day without so much as a hello. With stark white hair and perfect peach skin, piercing baby blues and tall forms, most thought them to be aliens. 'People from the stars.' Their magic was strong and nearly invisible. Non-violent in demeanor, they soon constructed their own city near the now named Aldermen Mountains. With constructs similar to the elves, some began to rumor that the people living there were half breeds of elves and humans. That story was soon dashed when they held no other symbolism to the beauty that was the elvish. Soon enough, the name Concordia became a household name. If one had an ailment, Concordia was the place to go for all kinds of healing. They also had a massive school to teach certain types of elemental magics. Their teachings are still prevalent in the schools today. Even more notable cities rose, one of which being Wish Well. In good terms and within a days travel of Concordia, the two cities became sisters. Trading goods and services, the two giants still kept a professional distance due to the heavy rumors of the perfect Concordians. Never the less, the people of Concordia were happy to have an ally in the trying times. Over the years, even though the stories and curiosity faded, there were still people who refused to go anywhere near the northern lands. This did not stop the duo cities from thriving and becoming forces of trade and travel. Nearly six hundred years into Simul's history, most cities that still stand had come to be. Though the country was still growing, Simul was nearly complete in the eyes of those who were born and raised on the land. At least, that is what the people thought. Eleutheria had finally placed the last brick upon its surface, and it was finally time for the people of the kingdom to come together for the election of the leader of the land. Unfortunately, this was far easier said than done. With the vast land mass and miles between people, coming to a decision did not happen for quite some time. It was a hellish first ten years. With so many different humanoids now roaming the lands, none of them had the same views or thoughts. Some wanted a base religion to follow and rule while others wanted things to just continue as they were. The progress that had been made in encompassing all walks of life slowly started to decay. The populous could not come to any sort of agreement. That is, until one brave soul came forward with a plan. His name was Herald Fortescue. Coming from a family who originally began construction on Eleutheria itself, he had a good foot in the door for the attention he was seeking. His words held hope and organization of the people who all resided inside of Simul. His vision? Simple. Peace and thriving among everyone. Now, most thought these words were too hard to believe. Living in peace? Always? No difference between classes? Crime that was punished reasonably? Land that could be claimed without riches? Education that could be acquired regardless of standing? Oh, how the people wanted what he promised. And thus, he was elected as the King, while his coming generations would rule the land for all of their time. Chapter 2 - Why Here? 1001-1200 As the years went on, questions began to arise once more. There was one particular question that stuck in the minds of the many: Why was the population growing so exponentially? Most of the original stories of other masses on the planet had been shared, yet, there were so many different types of souls traversing the land of Simul in particular. Many more than what could have traveled there easily. Why? How? Where did they come from? It would take a couple generations of much studying and questioning before the truth was finally revealed from none other than the mouths of the newcomers. ------------------------------------------------- Simul; a land of magics and monsters, much different than other lands that the world held. Magic was fluent in many places, yes, but not quite like it had been in Simul. Such powerful beings had been introduced, using their different magics to do many different things that the original citizens had never seen. As time went on, more and more, the magical beings held their supernatural abilities from the general populous while the people who had been there all along pretended they had never seen it. Even though the magic wielders did what they could do hide their true nature....it was a bit too late. As much as the people tried and tried, the tension nearly came to a head. Luckily for most, this caused them to question rather than quarrel. After many many years and generations had passed, the answers most sought for the conglomeration of people in one land mass were found. Piece by piece, it all fit together. Simul was not only a beautiful, fertile and prosperous land, but it was a 'hub'. What made it such a noun? That was a question that, to this day, has still yet to be answered. Eventually, people settled into the notion that something caused 'lost souls' to end up being a part of the kingdom, for better or worse. So, people did as they always had done, and learned to coexist to the best of their abilities. This is not to say that there was not an underbelly. Because...let's face it; People are only 'human'. Chapter 3 - The Age of Settlements 1201-5300 A slow progression of acceptance and coexisting lead to thousands of years of building, new villages and cities and trails carved. With so many new people throughout Simul, many more homes needed to be built, and thus, the current King and his family agreed to let the people have free reign over the land. With a lack of government owned land, Simulians found it much easier to build and pursue individual happiness. This lead to peace among the majority...mostly. There were many differences between people. From the way they looked, to the magics, or lack thereof that they performed, and even from the homes they built. These things did not seem to affect how people treated one another. As segregation wore thin, it left a hole that was slowly filled with love and acceptance. Citizens did what they thought was best for themselves and their families, and this alone helped the premise of coexisting blossom. As word began spread to the other lands in the world, Simul started to see an even larger influx of new settlers. Unfortunately, peace often attracts the less savory. With how many people around the world and beyond had heard of Simul and its amazing soil, there should have been no surprise at yet a different type of influx. It was only a matter of time that the ugliness of existence would rear, and rear it did. In the year 3022, the first large battle began. Fighting tooth and nail to keep their lands safe, Simulians won. However, it was not the last battle they would wage. For hundreds of years during the kingdom's formidable time, wave after wave of those who wanted to take the land for itself battered the shores. Little did the outsiders know, they were helping to shape Simul's peoples' view even more on their morals. As strangers took arms together, it strengthened the people as a whole. Those who wished wrong never had a chance... Simul eventually began new stories that would travel to the other lands. A reputation. A legend. Those who entered Simul either found a home, or perished trying to take advantage of it. As the times calmed, the people came together once more to rebuild and continue to strive for everything good. Chapter 4 - Mutual Agreements 5301-5322 So many hundreds of years of peace just had to be interrupted, didn't it? No kingdom is perfect, especially ones with such slow development akin to Simul. With the "forced" acceptance of coexisting among the people, Simul would soon face yet another disagreement. Luckily for the citizens, it wouldn't be nearly as traumatic as it had been in the not so far past. What started as a low rumble that no one could pinpoint quickly became an earth shattering quake. Well...kind of. No one had experienced the land shaking in Simul since the first humans had landed, giving them false security in thinking the land was free of extreme weather or the like. Unfortunately for them, the mountains to the north had yet to be explored, let alone named. It was soon discovered that the waves of quake were coming from them. What followed in the days after was nothing less than surprising. A small explosion of quakes lead to what some referred to as the "Sea of Red". Wave after wave of ginger haired dwarves came barreling down the mountains, weapons in hand, shouting at the tops of their lungs. Now, it was said that there was a single chuckle that rang through, but to this day, no one would admit that the sight of thousands of small bearded men made them break face. Never the less, this fueled the small statured men to come ven further down the mountains, hurling weapons and demanding the 'new comers' to leave the land they had made their home. Just as things were starting to look like an all out war, the humanoids did what they had been trying to not only preach, but to practice; offer peace. This was an odd gesture for the dwarves, as they had always been in Simul, 'from the beginning of time', as some would claim. Living amongst strangers? Letting the unknown traverse their lands? All of the mysterious future seemed rather...scary. This did not stop the dwarves from giving in and contemplating such a peaceful end to their fear. It took less than a year for the red headed, bulky race to give their decision; The humans could stay. This did not come without stipulations of course. The dwarves asked for their home to be left alone. They were not prepared to have their city beneath the Aldermans infiltrated by strangers and drifters. They also demanded that the mountains stay undisturbed by new construction. This was good enough for the humans, giving the dwarves their peace and quiet. And thus, Dun'Lorn became a staple name in the Simulian's homes. Over the centuries, the dwarven city has been known to open its doors more often, even giving a holiday once per year to welcome all. Most Dun'Lorn dwarves tend to stay within its walls for their entire lives, but don't be surprised to meet a rogue wandering the lands of Simul. Chapter 5 - Peace Sells 5323-9400 For thousands of years, many more cities were forged, families were formed, the land was tilled, times were good. For the first time since Simul was molded into a kingdom, there was undisturbed peace across the land. Unbeknownst to the masses of Simul, there had been growing an underground of pure evil intent. This demonic presence did not show itself for many many generations. Not until the mid 8000's. He began as a myth, a bedtime story told to disobedient children, a warning to the night. A mad man hellbent on destroying the kingdom. From one rumor to another, none of the stories really matched up. What was one to expect when this 'mad man' had never been seen? What could they expect when all there were were the stories whispered from one mouth into the waiting ear of another? The only thing these tales had in common; The name Timothy Slade. A name that most slowly began to avoid uttering. When the royal family themselves began to be secretive about such a person, and hushed tones echoed through the castle halls, as well as avoidance of saying his name in public...that was when the people knew something was wrong. The stories continued to unfold. Rumors of who this man was, what he looked like, and perhaps where he could be hiding. What he was doing was never a question, especially when some of the "constructs" began to go rogue, exposing themselves on the world at large. Some of them would come in the night, stealing the breath of their victims before disappearing with them in tow. Some, on the other hand, would seek out their own families, coming for respite and to be saved. To this day, some of these 'abominations' are still hidden from the sun. As their families have kept them in cages, hoping for a cure one day. This phenomena is quite rare, and even more seldom spoken of. The people continued to try and live their lives to the fullest. Putting the rumors and stories on the back burner, secretly wishing and praying that the problem would leave on its own. Much to their delight, it seemed to have worked. Eventually, the name Timothy was seldom heard, giving the people back the calm their minds so desperately worked hard for. Chapter 6 - The War of The Brothers and Saving Simul 9401-10,001 In all families, drama exists. The Royal Family was no exception to this common occurrence. There had been some....'stepping out' on the King's part. Luckily for him, it was before he could wed the next Queen, leaving only speculation. The King had kept the details to himself, if only long enough for him to produce a proper heir to the throne. The 'proper' child's name was Jayden, meaning "Heard by God". Little did his parents know at the time of his birth, the Gods would not hear him the moment he had cognitive thought. Not only did the child have problems from the time he could walk, if his first word was any indication to what was to come, they would have been far more weary of him. Jayden was a trickster, constantly getting into things he should not have been in, and escaping the castle walls in order to tease and mess with the other children. He was high and mighty, and he did not care who knew it. Danger was not a word in Jayden's dictionary. At the age of ten, he had already hospitalized one child, and scarred the rest of the small group of his 'friends' for life. It was said that Jayden had beheaded a dog as a taunting measure and shock factor before suddenly attacking one of the other children, savagely, with a stone. Once the child was an inch within his life, Jayden had been pulled off of him by the small cohort of children and the people who had witnessed the atrocious act whispered the tales of the haunting smile that painted his face. Unfortunately for the royal family, this was not the only incident in a long line of unfortunate events. Unlike most of the Kings and Queens before, Marlin and Olivia Fortesque did not make it to their golden years. A strange illness came over the entirety of the Royal Family, leading to the untimely death of the married couple, leaving their only son to take the throne at the age of seventeen. The official cause of the mysterious deaths in such an isolated and strange way never came to light, however, when Jayden took the throne days after his parents' deaths, he accused the Royal Chef of poisoning the family. No one could rightly question his accusations, and thus, the innocent chef was beheaded in the morning following the crowning of the new King. With his newfound power in politics, Jayden Fortesque would lead nearly twenty years of horror for the people of Simul. The moment he took the throne, the people could feel it. Little did they know how awful the next two decades would change the face of their beautiful kingdom. What had been a peaceful land would quickly turn into a poor, disease ridden cesspool. Jayden was quick to increase taxes beyond what nobles could pay, leaving the working classes to hope their families to eat every day. Those who did not lost their homes, land, liberty to see clinics and healers, and soon, their lives. Once you owed too much, your life was the only thing you had left to repay the debt with. Decrease in population lead to less and less people able to perform jobs, keep up the harvest, and eventually, it appeared that the downfall of once a lovely place would be upon them. Soon enough, this morbid news would travel far and wide enough....that Jeffry, Jayden's father's first son, who had been living in Arbrestor, would feel the heat of it. Something had to be done. Knowing his own roots, Jeffry began formulating his plan. He would take the throne back, and he would need help to do it. For the next few years, the eldest son to the late King collected his army of friends. It began with the people of Arbrestor who had watched the boy become a man. Little convincing and the people were prepared for war. Next were the cities of Concordia and Gao Shan. Jeffry knew better than to ask the Dwarves, as they had lived a silent life. So, he let them be and continued his expedition toward the south. Spreading his good word and promises of peace once more and recruiting able bodies left and right, masses upon masses came to the aide of the impending King. The people knew he would be a better leader than the tyrant that sat upon a throne he did not deserve. The war lasted for a single year; 9405. One would not think that such a one sided view would need so long to win. One would also be very, very wrong. Jayden held many followers. Not only those who found his tyrannical hand to be admirable, but there were also those that were forced to fight his war. After a long, bloody and ultimately successful win, Jeffry took the throne and freed those who still stayed within Eleutheria and those who had been once ripped from their homes. The castle itself needed to be rebuilt, many lives were lost, but in the end, good prevailed. Simul would never be the same. Though, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The history books teach of strife, but also the overcoming of said troubles. Now it is up to the people who call Simul home to keep it safe. Chapter 7 - The Undead Reign and End 10.012 Like most things, nothing lasts forever. Not even the good. The soldier was known as Cillus and had a plan: Take Simul for his own people. Isn't that how it normally starts? Impending war due to greedy others? Of course . Never the less, what the skeletal warriors didn't realize was that Simul had it's own dimming darkness. A hell of a kick off of chaos, a random army of undead overtook Korrig, destroying and enslaving all that they could. Once on the move, they then attempted to talk Astu Aether, a new city that had come to Simul for safe haven, into becoming their ally with promises of glory and more money then they knew what to do with. The leader of the floating city promptly decline with the mention of war. Sudbury was not so lucky. The city of magic soon fell victim to the next random attack. By this point, The King was becoming desperate, doing what he could to gather as many allies as possible. Calling upon the Dwarves of Dun'Lorn and the man who held a castle in the northern lands, Silver Drafaylum, Alfred Fortescue asked for the impossible; Help to take out the invading forces. This lead to a treaty between the snow elves and Guardians, the Dwarves, and the King's Army. The long empty lands of Concordia was soon settle into once again and he meeting alone helped the Dwarves realize that not everyone outside of their mountain was evil... Oddly enough, the noise above attracted the attention of one man that the land had tried, for hundreds of years, to forget about. Timothy Slade. He came silently to the city of Korrig, wiping out what was left, including the innocent enslaved. His Master of Beasts soon did the same in Sudbury. The people rose though, taking on the small trolls and rogue 'soldiers' and taking back what little was left of the city. Timothy and his minions disappeared shortly after, but not before word of mouth could tell the tales of his epic and oddly helpful return. They spoke of the demon woman at Timothy's side. And they spoke, even more than the former, of the old man himself. Though the people were scared, the Royal Family has offered aide and rebuilding efforts to both cities, as well as fortification efforts for Ferax Villum. If there is to be another attack, Simul will be ready. Chapter 8 - The Uncovering of History 10,012 The land shook with a vengeance. People all over the kingdom could feel it below their feet. What started out as a passing rumor that the tremors were caused by the dwarves quickly turned into something else. Something...worrisome. The small quakes turned into something much larger, affecting nearly every home and trail Simul had to offer. The fates deemed it unnecessary to destroy anything...minus the ground cracking open in a couple of locations. Curious wanderers and treasure hunters alike began their search for the cause. As soon as their feet lead them to the southern coast region, the quakes stopped. Strange...Yet, not as strange as what was to be discovered. Two different portals; One near the ocean and one near Dry Gulch. Both different in so many ways, but both coming from the same natural disaster. Where did they come from? Where did they lead? A few brave souls entered these portals, only to be transported to 'new' cities with 'new people'. Turns out, thousands of years prior, a large earth shudder much like the one that just happened had trapped these civilizations where they had been, leaving them in the dark for generations. Now, with the hope of having newfound brothers and sisters, both cities have opened their homes to the rest of Simul. Chapter 9 - Timothy Reminds...10,014 A long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far, far, holy shit that is far, far, far, when the fuck are we getting there, far way, there was a world not unlike our modern day Earth. On this Earth, was a country named North America. In that country, there was a state named Michigan. And in that state, there was a city named Detroit. Detroit used to be a city much like any of the other larger cities American had to offer. Over time, it became...not so pleasant. And with even more time given, Detroit was voted to be the country's first prison city. Walls were erected and guards were placed throughout in order to watch over the prisoners that were forced to spend their lives rotting away. Types of offenders who were placed in such a city were violent, morbid, and horrid. Since the America that was inside of this far away realm decided (For some fucking reason), that violent offenders should no longer be put to death, they chose a city that was already sort of fucked to be the new prison. Yay. Within the city walls, there were a little over 30 thousand prisoners who lived their lives the best they could. Murder was an every day occurrence, and theft was a way of survival. Some of the prisoners were blessed with magical abilities, and those few would use their abilities to either survive...or kill. Some didn't see a difference in the options. Every now and again, generous philanthropists would donate the less fortunate city items for entertainment and medical supplies for a more comfortable life, but these items often were used for less than noble purposes. Overall, Detroit was a cesspool. One that Timothy Slade no longer wanted staining the country he had set his eyes on for more recruitment... The weather was nice. Yes, let's talk about the weather. It was sunny. There was only a slight breeze that cooled one off had they no tolerance of heat. The spring had come and warmed the Earth. Such a beautiful day for a beautifully morbid mass murder. Today was the day, and Detroit was about to wiped from existence. Not before the land who also needed a lesson learned had the opportunity to learn said lesson. A land by the name of Simul (That means you fuckers). No one knows how the people of America reacted to watching their prison city literally detach from the country and float off into the air before disappearing, but it had to be just as horrifying as the reaction that the people of Simul had to seeing the city comparable in size to Timberholde floating barely a mile above the central city itself....And that's when the fight started. Edited: The drop of a nearly modern day Detroit on top of Timberholde rocked the entire continent. From Arbrestor to the southern forest, people from all over Simul would recall the thunderous explosion with great detail. From the moment it happened, people came. Either to witness or to help. Unfortunately, with such a massive assault...it looked rather grim. This did not stop the heroes of Simul from doing what they could do to save as many people as they could. This...This was no easy task. For days, those who could, did do what they could to search rubble, flip doors and cars and trees and walls, and put themselves in danger to save whoever was still alive from such an unnatural disaster. Despite all of their best efforts...out of the over sixty thousand people targeted by the man himself...less than two thousand were saved that week. Simul, in its constant glory and coexisting nature, has come together since and helped to rebuild Timberholde. Though there are not many who live there, they hope that travel from neighboring countries and kingdoms will help to repopulate the once massive city of Timberholde. Those who have survived have come to know what happened as the "Timberholde Incident" and stories of the harrowing people who saved those who survived...alongside the stories of the man who did this to Simul have echoed through the ears of Simul's citizens ever since.
