Dear Simul, This will be my last article until further notice. Do not fret friends! The news will make it to you, I promise! Before I hand Simul Quarterly to our newest host, Lucius Scarletwound, I would like to take this opportunity to deliver not only an amazing update for the citizens of Simul, but I would love to formally introduce you to our newest writer.  Lucius Scarletwound of Timberholde is a born and raised citizen who has loved our land as much as anyone. Not only is he a very talented writer, but he also has many friends in many places. I trust that Lucius will uphold the truth and safety of the people!  Now, back to what you all have been waiting so anxiously for: What is new in Simul? Since the coronation of our new leader, Ferren, our kingdom has undergone some very large changes. Much as the Pastor promised, he has begun to implement many new rules and laws in order to rebuild and keep you all safe. Now, I understand that some of these changes and promises have caused a bit of a stir when it comes to our magical community, but I must iterate; this is for the best . Considering the hell we the people have had to endure these last few months, it is necessary that we come together and make one another feel safe. Ferren has promised more than just safety. He has promised order and community. I, for one, may be one of the magical that must adjust how I live, but if it makes Simul rest easier, then I am willing to do such.  Compiled below are the news laws that will mark a new age in Simul’s history.  Community:  Under this law, all Simul citizens will abide by a new curfew. This law only stands in city limits. Until the perpetrators of the crimes against Simul have been found and punished, the curfew will stand between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM. All citizens must be inside between these hours. All businesses inside of city limits must adjust their hours accordingly. All businesses will be compensated by the Royal Fund with proper documentation of loss of revenue. All requests must be sent to Ferren Drebek, Royal Quarters, Eleutheria.  Safety: Until a new royal family can be assigned, Siphoning Mages  have been increased in order to be disbursed throughout Simul. Every major city and landmark will now be equipped with roaming Siphoning Mages to patrol the area. This is for the safety of our people. Until the crime has been quelled, Siphoning Mages will make their homes among the people. If you would like to house a Mage, please contact the Royal Quarters in order to set a meeting and be qualified. Any and all who offer aid will be compensated for their time, room and board.  Trust: Any and all magical technology and persons (Non-Humans or Magical Humans) must register their abilities and capabilities. Alongside the Siphoning Mages, groups of Treasurers will accompany them in order to survey the populace. This may seem a bit invasive, but this is for the safety of all. Those who have taken lives and caused suffrage have yet to be brought to justice. Until that time, for the peace of mind of every soul, we must be open about who we all are. Any persons or items found to not be registered will immediately be confiscated and/or jailed until proper paperwork is obtained. From the date of this article, all persons/items must be registered within the next 7 days. Persons registered will have a card designated to them which must be on their person at all times for identification purposes. You can register at your local post office or main city entrances. There will be temporary offices designated for this purpose. Vigilance: This is not a new law, but more a warning for citizens. If you see something or someone magical, please use caution. Do not treat your fellow man any differently, however! That is not what we are doing here. We just want people to be safe and secure. This is why Identification Cards will be provided. If someone magical refuses to identify themselves, or have proper paperwork for magical items, please contact your local authorities. It may just be that they did not see the announcements. You will be doing them a favor! The faster we identify those with magic, the faster we can find and deal with the assailants on our land. Hello citizens of Simul. I come to you today to report on developing news brought to you directly from our fair capital city.  It was reported at 5:34 AM, constables were dispatched to the second level of Eleutheria  near the intersection of Starwind and East where they quickly found a morbid scene. There have been a total of 47 fatalities and an unknown amount of injuries. According to witnesses and constable reports thus far, a grouping of fifteen robed figures descended upon the area and began knocking on doors just a couple of hours before. Apparently, they had been asking people for donations in hopes that they could gain access to unlocked homes. It has been said that this is when people were pulled from their homes and forced to line the road. The next details are not for the faint of heart. Please read with extreme caution: Those who were forced into the street were tied to one another and gagged to stifle their screams and protests.  There seemed to be a ‘leader’ who then began speaking with a booming voice. From some videos that were taken with witnesses’ Telegems, the words spoken were: “People of Simul, it should come as no surprise that peace is nothing but a broken promise. Us magical and non-human people will never forget the trials and torture we have had to endure over the years. To this day, we still suffer in silence, dealing with your negative opinions, views, and prejudice while you all claim we coexist. It is time for us to take this land back. This is not our end. Only yours.” From there, the victims were set alight with what could only be described as lightning and fire magic. We only know it was magic due to witness testimonies and video evidence.  This situation has prompted Ferren, our stand-in leader of Simul, to release the following statement and judgment: “Citizens of Simul, As horrible as this sounds, we need to do something drastic in order to keep our kingdom safe. From the moment this statement is released, all non-human and/or magical beings, items, etc MUST BE PURGED FROM ELEUTHERIA. Henceforth until further notice, Eleutheria will become a “Human Only District”. Those of you who reside within the walls of the capitol that must be displaced, please make your way to the nearest post office or city entrance for a voucher to make your transition to a new city easier. All magic and non-humans must leave the city limits within the next 24 hours. All establishments that sell/manufacture/teach magic must be shut down. As much as I would love to keep Simul whole, these attacks have fractured our safety and peace of mind in ways that will take time to mend. Dear Citizens of Simul, Yet another awful time in our great kingdom's history has just occurred. During the Festival of the Setting Sun, many of Simul's largest farming communities were attacked. Yet again, magical beings wielding what appeared to be fire type magic burned crops indiscriminately. Apparently the cities of Ferax Villum, Concordia, SkyHaven, Sudbury, Wingston, Dry Gulhc, and various smaller villages were met with groups of robed figures that flocked into the areas during the nightly festivities. Hundreds of acres of land and food crops have been burned beyond repair. What does this mean for the kingdom? This was the question on hundreds of thousands of minds this passed week. Ferren Drebek, the gracious man who has taken it upon himself to rule our lands until a new leader can be lifted, released a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I address you all in such a manner. I am sure you have all heard the news by now. Our kingdom…has suffered a tremendous loss. The crops that normally sustain us through the long winter have been destroyed. Burned to a crisp alongside the brave men and women who tried to stop the inferno.  Their sacrifice ensured that everyone could gather and defeat our oldest of foes. The cause of the fires is still unknown but we believe it to be a series of horrible accidents. I would love nothing more than to believe that, but with witnesses coming forward, it has been apparent that the attacks were perpetrated by magic users. The best people we have are looking to find the cause of what caused this tragedy…”  “We can move on from this tragedy as one but I need the help of every Simulian. We do not have enough food for the winter. As of today, all food is to be brought here to Eleutheria so it can be rationed out appropriately. All are welcome to come and get your daily meals. Those of you traveling great distances will be allowed to get enough for a few days. Every month, we will be shipping out ration bundles to each city and community to sustain. All magical beings wanting their rations are required to provide their registrations. This is to keep us all safe and uphold peace of mind. We have also decided to place a special barrier around the capitol to help further protect the food we will all need to survive. It kills me to have to do this to you all. Rationing will leave us all hungry as we try our best to make it through these trying times. I encourage everyone to do what they can to provide for their families. If you have extra, please give it to those that need it more than you. Hunters, share your bounties as you get them. Farmers that have lost their crops should reach out to us. We can provide seed to hopefully grow something before the cold seasons hit. We will make it through and come out better for it. Greetings Dear Simulians, It is my honor to bring you the most recent news possible. Stay in the know, Simul, and keep yourselves, your families and friends safe and healthy! The winter months are starting to come to an end, albeit, with some cold fronts still moving in. Ferren and our capitol are still making sure every soul is fed and warm, even while we send aide toward Korrig and Dry Gulch to get the ports and trade running again. We do appreciate all of your patience while this is being accomplished. Please keep an eye out for your neighbors, friends. We are all in this together. On a more serious note, recent numbers of registrations have brought to light that there are still those who would rather hold onto some sort of 'freedom' rather than make their fellow humanoids comfortable. As much as we understand that registering all magic and items associated, we must come together in order to save lives. Yes, the processes and laws being passed may seem inconvenient and invading, but it is for the betterment of Simul. With this being said, Ferren has made an announcement that there will be more a presence of the King's Guard posted around Simul. Please carry your registrations at all times, as failing to provide identification can and will lead to, and not limited to, imprisonment and fines. Keep your eyes peeled, Simul. This new law has been implemented due to more attacks and senseless killings that have been reported to the capitol. According to witnesses and subsequent investigations, there have been a total of three different attacks on Simul soil in the last week with a death toll of 76. Each and every attack has been associated with the mysterious robed figures as well as heavy use of magics. Alongside of implementation of the new laws and guards, the following statements have come directly from our new fearless leader, Ferren: "All magic academies/schools will now be under heavy scrutiny and guard. As of now, all magic schools must close their doors to operations, effective immediately. Unfortunately, until all residents inside of our kingdom are registered, we must contain all magic use to the best of our abilities. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." "Portals to the 'outside' cities will be cut off from the mainland, effective immediately. Due to the lack of cooperation from Arcanus Aecor, Occultatem Terra, and Astu Aether, the capitol has decided, for the moment, that it is best to shut the portals down. Any and all rations that are needed for survival will be transported by the King's Guard once per month until each city can contain itself or they comply. This also stands for the islands of Curet Insula. Since the obliteration of the bridge that connected both lands, it has been decided to keep the severance until further notice."   "Simul's food stores have been raided. This will cause more chaos than necessary. Please, be patient and have faith in your new capitol leaders during this trying time. In less than two months, crops should be back in the swing. With our efforts in saving our docks and trade cities, we hope that there will be an easier time feeding all. Please continue to fetch your rations in a timely manner. Ignis 13th, 10,017 We have been watching, waiting and contemplating. The pain associated with the knowledge and no way to stop impending doom...I would not wish upon the most evil of souls. With the hurt expanding through the kingdom, choices have been made for people without so much as a question. Ferren, as he sits upon the seat of a throne, has chosen the side my sisters and I worried he would. It has begun in Eleutheria. So many have lost their lives in the past three months, and there is no way to fix it. I feel that Lyanna may be hiding something. the small glint of determination behind her eyes have been more than just worried. She disappeared a couple weeks ago only to return with a fire in her heart that I have not seen in years. Even keeping these writings is near impossible. If only I could write what I know, what I could do, what I could see with eyes that are unseen. What is the use of this ability if we cannot make this world better?

Heims 23rd, 10,016 My heart still aches. Thus is the life of a human, right? Who the hell ever volunteers for this? I knew things would only get harder for them. This world is full of evil, despite the façade of peace and charity. Who else would watch over them? Who else to record the history for the future generations? Who else to make sure existence continues on? We were mistaken...We had discussed how easy it would be to just watch from afar. We said it would be so simple to keep our nose to the grind and not get involved. How could I? They are like....children to me. These children need more than someone to just watch. But 'just watch' is all we are allowed to do. I watched time go by. Visitors come and go. Arguments resolve and love blossom. Seasons change and people grow. I mistakenly thought things might calm. How wrong I was. My tavern...the one fucking thing I had that was  a constant. Why couldn't she just listen to me? Why could that fucking mutt man listen? Now look at them. Destroyed alongside my home. Had Barska and Aya and Stacy not come back, I would still be trying to piece the damn thing back together. You know what the worst part is? It's not really the tavern that has my heart and mind captured. The end is coming....will they be ready? Will they live? The only peace I have experienced in the past few days has been the quiet mutterings of dwarves as they argue among themselves. That can't be healthy.

Have you ever just wanted to explode? Not physically unless you are capable of that , but verbally? Just scream and shout and point someone in the right direction and hope that they have at least two brain cells they could rub together and understand the outrageous hint? That is the summary of my life. There seems to be some fuckery afoot. Being someone such as I, there is not a damn thing I can do about it. Lyanna is safe. Vincent is safe and back home. Stacy is safe. Boone is calm. Silver is still a pain in my ass. But it appears someone else is pining for that position. I wonder how long this Caspian fellow is going to last among them. It's not exactly a question I seek an answer to. Considering how Cyra has been reacting, I doubt it will be much longer. I am sure I will be entertained just watching. I do find it funny though, Boone's lack of reaction to the intrusive pest. This is going to be fun. Well, as long as they keep it out of my fucking tavern.

You would think an old broad such as myself would have kept a diary for much longer than this. No such luck. However, with the recent events, I've decided to go against the grain. Despite all the meetings I've had with Boone Clear, the most recent was the most surprising. His company was not Lyanna, as one would expect. It was Stacy fucking Carson. If only that little girl knew what the hell she was getting into. If only she had just said no to his request. Now another has fallen into the fold and there is nothing I can do about it.  Sometimes, it is a pain in my ass living the existence that my sisters and I do. I suppose I will keep record starting now. What else does an old woman like me have better to do?
