  • Korrig Harbor City | Kingdom of Simul

Korrig City Harbor Korrig was a small fishing village built with the old washed up bones from some unknown sea-monster. Through trade established with Sudbury, they began to grow quickly; the people receiving help and better building supplies. Within the course of 80 years, they went from simple homes to a walled city with attached castle, and a port big enough for some of the largest ships on the seas. A bell on the harbor clangs loudly and seabirds scream and cry overhead, fighting with one another for any tasty scrap dropped by people in the street. The salt air is heavy and the paint on the buildings are warn from sea storms but the people are bright and enigmatic. The market is loud throughout the day and there are sea-shanties to be heard all over the city streets. The smell of fish and salt and sea has sunk into every part of this city. Korrig grows every day, becoming more important to the economy of Simul as the lands grow with new people and new ventures. Year Incorporated: 1129 Population: Approximately 20,000 Human: 77% Elven: 9% Dwarven: 6% Other: 8% Magically Inclined: Approximately 7% Updates Misses Smith "Women can smith just as well as men!" A frequent phrase you will hear walking through the door of Korrig's most popular blacksmith shop, Misses Smith. Run by Julia and her lovely wife, Amethyst. Most of their items are made with more than a womanly touch. Tough and highly durable, these pieces are not general imbued, however, can be if taken to the right mage. Lambs to the Slaughter A butcher’s shop run by a man named One-Eye Pete, so-named for the fact he has only one eye. It’s pretty self-explanatory. He provides high quality meat that is as finely cut as they come, Pete loving precision and refusing anything but perfection. Many of the meats sold here come from across the sea, bringing an exotic flavor to the meat market. Healing Waves A hospital run by a former fisherman, Healing Waves is one of the most well-kept hospitals in Korrig. It is run by a man named Salty, whose stories of his times at sea often entertain sick patients at the hospital. Rather than magic, the hospital usually prefers “natural” healing, meaning anything non-magical, though they’ll use magic when it’s needed. Salty doesn’t trust magic, not since that one day… What happened on the dreaded “that day” changing with every telling. Insight Though it is small for a library, Insight has most information people need. Often used as a place for children to study, you won't often find people digging for highly rare material. Still, it is a nice little place to come, sit, relax, enjoy a mug of coffee made by the owner, Brit, and read. The Thirsty Seahound A tavern of modest quality run by modest people, a pair of husbands named John and James. The two serve their customers with as much love as they would a child, preparing their meals with all the care of a mother. The tavern usually smells of salt and fish, a side effect of all the fishermen who frequent it. Dock's Harbor The docks of the harbor, a spot where a lot of Simulian trade occurs. It is one of the most lively places in all the continent, ships coming to and from the harbor to sell and steal away with their wares. The dockmaster, who just so happens to be named Dock (though most people don’t believe that’s his real name), will help anyone who needs it to get to where they need to go. Just don’t bother him while he’s busy. Which is...often. Might be worth the yelling for these prices! Fishy Feats A store for all things fishing. Fishing rods, bait, things to ward off nasty sea creatures while you’re out on the ocean, Fishing Bob’s got it all! He has dedicated his entire life to the craft, the greatest accomplishment he has ever had being taking that fish twice the size of a man from the grips of mother sea. It lies mounted on his wall to this day, carefully preserved and polished. Sally's Muffins A simple bakery run by a woman named Sally, an elderly woman who has been baking since she was just a young girl and loving it all the while. Kindly and always giving a smile, she provides a lot of hungry fishermen with fresh pastries. Her muffins are especially delicious, being declared “famous”, and so the store is named after them. Bolstering Brews Come on down to Bolstering Brews for your home remedies and cleaning supplies! Jarren is great with his hands and even better with his mind. Specializing in home remedies for common illness, he also creates potions for everyday use and cleaning. Menu Here Mending Waters In the great city of Korrig Harbor lies a great healer. Tending to the sea fairing and travelers, Sam doesn't let a single soul leave her city in disarray. She is not a talkative woman, but she sure has a touch that can heal just about any ailment. Even those coming to her for birthing their children will be met with the same caring eyes as any other. Her home is cozy, and there is always hot water on the fire. Tea, coffee, a warm bath, anything you need. Had she not dedicated her life to practicing healing, some lucky man would have swept this beautiful woman up. Using water as her main way of healing, she picked one of the best cities to settle in. Her touch is usually cool, but her use can be any temperature. Whatever is most comfortable for you.

  • Lake Torra | Kingdom of Simul

Lake Torra Lake Torra is located just outside of the Southern Forest and about day's walk from Mary's Tavern. It has rather sandy beaches for a lake surrounded by trees. The lake is quite sizable as well, being miles upon miles in diameter. The waters are crystal clear and it is a very popular sight for weary travelers to camp. It wouldn't be a surprise to find small homes nestled in the surrounding forest either. The lake is beautiful all year round, attracting many to paint art of its water and scenery. Updates

Balls of Fire Balls of Fire was founded by Demruk Merrybasher during the war, and has been around ever since. Including Demruk himself! Or so they say. No one really knows if it is the same old man, but no one has seen anyone else run the popular blacksmith shop. Buried just a few feet under the ground, Demruk's Balls of Fire smith is known for its well made armor. Despite him looking to be one for weapons, he is much better at the armor portion. Not to say his weapons don't hold up! He can even enchant them for ya. A fiery sting? He has got that. Icy shields? Hell yeah. Just ask! He can imbue almost any element onto your item. It may not be anything noteworthy, but it can help in a pinch. The Pig's Nose A butcher’s shop run by an unexpectedly thin and lanky man named Quinn, who always seems to have scared eyes. No one knows why he acts the way he does, for he is not one to socialize, but he always has a stutter to his voice. The shop has a talking pig for a mascot simply named Piggy. How he feels about living in a butcher’s shop is yet to be determined but no one feels comfortable enough to ask. Magical Maladies A place that, despite its name, has nothing to do with giving illness, but rather dealing with them. While they also treat normal injuries, the hospital also specializes heavily in treating magical illnesses. Attended by skilled healers and run by the strict Lady Landry, if you come here they’re sure to fix you up whatever it takes. Compendium Compendium is arguably the largest and most jammed packed library and bookstore that Simul has to offer. From deep hidden history to spells of the ancients to even how to grow proper corn in the winter, this stash of beautiful books is more than anyone could ask for. The library's owner, Afyne, has made it her life's work to continue growing the collection. Spellbinder's Prison A jail that specializes in dealing with magically powered convicts, though it also deals with convicts without magic when need be. Every single guard in the prison is well-equipped to deal with magic, and every cell is lined with anti-magic runes. Helen's Heals Sudbury is a very widely known town. A lot of magical energies. Schools for mages. Libraries full of history on the subject. It is no wonder that the most popular and well know healer/midwife uses magic as her main source of healing. Helen's heals will leave you feeling completely rejuvenated and refreshed. Her warm touch can even remove most common curses. The common cold may take a little longer. Even though she is a healer, she is quite a germ freak. Jerard's Junction The workshop of a grandiose wizard, Jerard’s Junction, is open to occasional travelers or the regular shopper! Locals know the location well not just because of the owner’s bold attitude and personality. Renovated from a infamous tavern, the shop brought light and life back to the this bustling corner of Sudbury. Whether from walking down the street, running on rooftops, or flying in the air, one cannot miss the bright orange shingles and continuous steam rising out of the pipes and chimneys. Small trinkets to large tools. Requests and orders for something special are always welcome; within reason of course. Potions and Perapts. Swords and Scarfs. Feather Dusters and Fire Deflectors. • Gao Shan | Kingdom of Simul

Gao Shan Gao Shan: A hidden gem among the eastern side of the Alderman Mountains. If you happen to make it there, be prepared for beautiful scenery and a peaceful surrounding. The citizens love to tend to their gardens and paint their homes in beautiful rainbows of purple and yellow and red. They take great pride in their dwellings, which is easy to see. The city is quiet, the people are private, and you can find yourself asylum among its walls. This is upheld by its protectors. You wouldn't want to find yourself in a bind here. Troublemakers are not welcome. Year Incorporated: 1500 Population: Approximately 10,000 Human: 67% Elven: 20% Dwarven: 3% Other: 10% Magically Inclined: Approximately 12% Updates Kora's Karamels A bakery and sweets shop run by a woman named Kora, a kitsune who dedicates her life to the sweet and tooth-killing. All sorts of strange candies can be found here as well as most varieties of baked goods, in the style of her homeland and the style of the natives of Simul. As a second measure to save money, she will also offer massages in the back if you can pay. Lady Thay N'oes Got yourself into some trouble again, didn't ya? No worries. Lady Thay N'oes is here to take care of you in a snap! Often faced with the protectors of Gao Shan who just so happen to cut themselves frequently (How strange, right?), Lady Thay is well known for her excellent patches and stitches. Not just a healer, Lady Thay is an amazing midwife. Having brought over a thousand children into the world in her day, she can take care of you in every which way! (HA! THAT FREAKING RHYMED! XD) Chartam Collection Gao Shan is known for having such high standards. Not only in the community, but in appearance. One would think the library would be just as organized and upheld. Looking at it from the outside would also give this assumption. Walking into the doors, however, you will be met with a mess of books. Not because the caretaker, Song, does not care. But because there is a literal dragon on premises. Yes. His name is Noodle. He has no abilities that normal dragons have. No fire breath. Flightless. And he is about as big as a small dog. Messy should have been his middle name. Constantly pulling books from the shelves just to plop down on top of them. He may be a dragon, but he is quite friendly! The Mystic Deer A tavern run by a retired samurai from across the sea named Sho Mayozaki. A katana hangs above the fireplace and the smell of cherry blossoms wafts constantly through the air. The place is designed in typical Gao Shanese style, though it also incorporates a little bit of foreign styles as well. It is said to have the best sake in the city, and the wisdom imparted by the owner is not something to take for granted. Chai Out A tea shop that sells many teas that are native to the people of Gao Shan. The owner, Sayaki Kimosana, is known for believing heavily in things like chakra and karma, and offers many spiritual methods of help on the side. It is believed that she infuses her teas with mystical energies, leaving people who drink it notably refreshed. Steel Arms Steel Arms, located within Gao Shan, is one of the most prestigious and decorated blacksmiths in all of Simul. With a steady employee count of twelve, items are often made rather quickly. The head of the shop, Xia, is the one who takes the orders, but doles them out appropriately. Engraved on every piece, you will find their stamp of approval, the red cat. No one quite knows what it stands for other than the smiths themselves showing off. The Red Sea The Red Sea is a park and garden located in Gao Shan. Here, the grass is dotted by thickets of cherry blossoms, also known as sakura trees. It is a popular spot for picnics and meditation, and there is a large pond with fish from other lands. The park is home to a man known only as the Flower Sage, who seems to be a true expert on all things flora and fauna. Even the most obscure questions he knows the answer to. Many seek his wisdom on unrelated matters he is viewed as so wise, like relationship issues. He usually tells these people to go away. Tonic Tonic is such a simple name for such a sinister looking shop. Upon entering, you will be greeted with many different looking bottles filled what seems to be souls of the damned. This is far from the truth. From a child, Blaize had always been fascinated by the dark and macabre. Having a knack for making potions of all sorts, he decided to mix the two. Even the healing potions look sketchy, but not a single person would question his ability. Menu Here Katana Cuts A butcher’s shop that is run by a man with draconic blood flowing through his veins, named Dargo Koushin. He does not, contrary to popular belief, cut his meat with a katana. He does, however, offer to cook the meat he sells with his fire breath.

  • Occultatum Terra | Kingdom of Simul

Occultatum Terra Hidden beneath the large forest portal lies one of the most beautiful cities Simul has to offer. This is Occultatum Terra; a completely underground city, fairly newly discovered by the people of Simul. Home to druid elves, Occultatum Terra is lush with green and blue despite the lack of natural sun. The city is also bright and welcoming (given you are not a dwarf). Having been buried beneath the lands of Simul for thousands of years, the people of Occultatum Terra are quite oblivious to the ongoings. This is not to say they are not willing to learn. The earth shattering quake that revealed their hidden portal has freed them from their prison. Now they open their doors to almost any traveler curious to their people. Year Incorporated: 101 Population: Approximately 21,000 Human: 23% Elven: 68% Dwarven: 1% Other: 8% Magically Inclined: Approximately 71% Updates Lifehome An academy that is very important to the people of the city. It is where many of their druids come to train, and those from outside of the city seeking druidic training have been welcomed by the academy’s dean, Lavisian Arland. It is even considered a sacred place, a rite of passage for young druids being to graduate from this place. It also functions as a church of sorts for the various local elven faiths. Lily Leaf Lovers A tavern run by an elf named Garrion Men’Taris, Lily-Leaf Lover’s is a place where people come to indulge in other’s company, not just have a quick drink. It has a serene atmosphere, and the owner sells tea as well as alcohol. Rest and Bounty A restaurant that, as of recent, has also expanded to serve as a hotel for those coming to Occultatum Terra for simple tourism, the rooms magically soundproofed so the restaurant half of the building doesn’t irritate people looking for simple rest. It is run by a man named Rusty, who claims to have gotten his name from how often he gets tetanus. Don’t worry, though, the food is perfectly safe, and all-natural too! Bella's Baked Goods A bakery run by a human woman named Bella, who recently moved to Occultatum Terra. She has quickly become as enthralled with the natural world as the druidic elves who surround her, and has taken to growing her own ingredients when it comes to what she uses in her baked goods that can be grown. Nature Provides A place of healing run by an elven shaman named Malissia of the Grove, who does not come from Occultatum Terra but fits in just as well as any other elf. She uses the gifts provided to her by nature, natural and magical, to heal others. She has a love for life and is the type of person who would never hurt so much as a fly. Homegrown Books A bookstore that “grows” its own books, the owner owning a small plot of wood behind the store from which they harvest the material they use for their paper. They even bind the books specially with the wood from these trees, cured through some strange means so it never rots. It is run by an elven woman who only goes by Quiet. She sees no need to speak unless it is related to her books. The Great Garden A holy place for the elves of Occultatum Terra, where they believe the spirits of nature and the souls of dead animals roam, the Great Garden is a garden surely deserving of its title. It is massive, practically a small forest within the city, where the plants grow taller than most men are tall. Magic pervades this garden thoroughly, and most who visit it come to find themselves greatly relaxed and enthralled. The caretaker, Triduc, makes sure the garden stays clean and beautiful. Magical Mixtures A potion shop where you can find most any potion you could possibly think of. Healing potions? They have it. A potion to ward off illness? Also in stock. Explosive fire potions? Also in… Stock? The shop is run by a woman named Belma, who is concerningly concerned with things that go boom. She is known for the loud noises that tend to come from her shop along with the unusual amounts of smoke her chimney expels. But, her little experiments are tolerated, for there is no better place to find a massive variety of potions than Magical Mixtures. Menu Here Barion's Cleaver A butcher’s shop run by a big, burly elf (Well...big for an elf) who goes only by Barion. He refuses to cut any meat he does not kill himself, believing that doing anything else would be dishonoring the spirits of the animals he sells the meat of. Sunforged Swords A blacksmith’s that specializes in odd weapons forged with druidic magic, often blessed by the sun or nature itself by the blacksmith who runs it, Mil’andra Venian. She takes great pride in the weapons she makes, and many of her goods go to supply the city guardsmen.

  • Timberholde | Kingdom of Simul

Library of Shit Updates Heading 2 Timberholde Year 10,013, Month of Dissilio From the center of the large city, a rumble vibrated to the immediate surrounding establishments. From the small rumble, something BIG came. There was not much warning for the townsfolk, but luckily, no one was injured by the odd yet inspiring incident. From the ground, to hundreds of feet into the air, a beautiful Tree of Life has made Timberholde its home. Year 10,014 Month of Stirps After many weeks of rebuilding and burying the dead, Timberholde has been rebuilt by its own citizens. Though it is large and in charge as it was before, the population has steeply dropped. This does make the home prices low, in hopes that more populated areas and visitors from other lands will choose to make Timberholde their home. Dissilio 5th, 10,1017 Taken from BREAKING NEWS: It is my displeasure to bring the most current news to Simul. As much as I would love to not have to relay this information, it is my duty to keep you all informed and as safe as I can. With that, I must weave together the details of last night’s horrors. Before the sun began to descend, something else fell upon our great kingdom. From what we can gather, the first attack was in Korrig. Despite the docks already having taken a major hit, it appears the assailants decided they needed to come back to finish the job. Unfortunately, the structures are a complete loss. Even worse, it has been reported that more than 20 people are still missing while the casualties are nearing the same number and injuries have topped 33. From what we can tell, the next attack was shortly thereafter in Timberholde. Every city entrance was reportedly blown apart and virtually sealing the city inside of itself. This also included grave damage to the newest addition, the train. The station and surrounding area have been destroyed beyond repair. Casualties have reached 67, more than 40 have been injured and another 17 are still missing. Another attack mere hours after came in the form of another explosion. This one took out the entirety of the bridge from the mainland to Curet Insula. No fatalities have been reported, but it has only been a few hours since receiving the news and searches are still in effect. I wish I could say that I have reported everything. I wish I could tell you great people that we can recover from this. I wish I had the magic words…something to give you all hope. Unfortunately, with this last piece of information I have to bear, I cannot fathom how we are to unite. At just past 8 last night, Eleutheria and our royal family was attacked. According to the guards and surviving staff, nothing was out of the ordinary until they heard Hilda scream and then what sounded like a man being tortured. This man is assumed to be King Alfred. Apparently, shortly after, a fire broke out, causing many of the people who also lived in the castle to flee with little to nothing to the second story of the city. Still, 13 are missing and feared dead. The royal family was never located, even after the fire was quelled. There was but a note left at the scene. This note had a confession and confessions to more crimes that were, unfortunately, confirmed this morning. The entire Fortescue bloodline has been murdered. Sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandfathers and grandmothers… all of the bloodline has been taken from Simul in the most horrid of ways. I cannot even begin to write what information I have been given. Simul…please. PLEASE be safe. I know we are now living in a very uncertain time. I have faith that we will be okay. Please, look after yourselves, your families, your neighbors and your cities. This is Flynn, signing off. Messis 2, 10,017 Read more in BREAKING NEWS Laughter and merriment could be heard throughout the kingdom as the farmers were once again celebrating another good harvest. Food and drink flowed freely as the unsuspecting people of Simul were watched from the shadows. Hooded figures lurked just outside of anyone's sight, their eyes set on one target; the very food the farmers were celebrating . Not just what they had harvested already, but all of their fields. Every piece of wheat, bean, or ear of corn was doomed. The robed figures kept watch just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. They waited until almost everyone had gone to sleep. Those that remained in the fields or the barns were too drunk to notice anything. Even if they had been sober, they would not be able to stop what was about to happen. Once the robed figures felt it was time to move, they did . Flames roared to life around them to burn every last plant to cinders. Nothing was spared. Nothing. Anything and everything that stood in their way burned with the precious crops. Enough food for dozens of families turned to ash before anyone realized what was going on. The smell of smoke and the sound of roaring flames pulled everyone from their beds. Horror and panic hit everyone who witnessed it. Men, women and children all did what they could to put out the flames...though, their efforts were in vain. The heat from the fires evaporated the water before it could even reach the flames. Screams for water...screams for help. Many could even be heard calling out to the mages they had shunned. Asking... no, begging for help. Those that could have helped cowered behind their locked doors, fearful of what could happen if they rendered aide. Great numbers of magical and non-human beings fled from their homes as registrations became more common, alongside the growing racism against them, leaving the human communities more vulnerable than they had ever dreamed. This was not an isolated incident; farms across the kingdom were burned. Dry Gulch, SkyHaven, Subury, Wingston, Timberholde, Ferax Villum, and even Concordia were hit alongside multiple other villages and farming areas. It was almost the same story at every farm that was burning: Those that could have helped refused. A small few cities managed to save food. Their mages were quick to respond and quell as many of the fires as they could. However, even with their quick actions, much of their food was destroyed. What could be salvaged was inventoried and stored in the safest places people could find. Alongside the massive loss to the winter food supply, hundreds of people and livestock were also slain. The countless lives and resources that were lost in the night left all that witnessed the horrors of it choking on the smoke and ash of their dreams . What witnesses hoped was a sick nightmare was revealed to be anything but. The nightmare was real and no one knew what to do. Cries of sorrow and a strange letter filled the air. The letter was simply written on paper bearing the Guardian's seal; “We of the CONGREGATION will not be silent. If the King won't hear our cries, we will make him. We will starve him out if we have to, along with anyone else who would follow his laws.” The news of all the fires across the kingdom had the streets of Eleutheria humming with hectic whispers or outright blame against magic users. Conspiracy theories about what happened spread like wildfire; The letters from the “CONGREGATION”, and the Guardians had everyone terrified. They were all looking to Ferren for answers. No word came for hours, confirming for the people that what happened was far worse than before. Eventually, Ferren emerged from the castle to stand on the highest balcony of the capitol. His normally charismatic voice was filled with sadness as it echoed through the heart of Simul. Even his appearance suggested he had not slept. His clothes were a rumbled mess and his hair was far from tamed. Redness surrounded his eyes from intense crying. “It is with a heavy heart that I address you all in such a manner. I am sure you have all heard the news by now. Our kingdom…has suffered a tremendous loss. The crops that normally sustain us through the long winter have been destroyed. Burned to a crisp alongside the brave men and women who tried to stop the inferno. Their sacrifice ensured that everyone could gather and defeat our oldest of foes. The cause of the fires is still unknown but we believe it to be a series of horrible accidents. I would love nothing more than to believe that, but with witnesses coming forward, it has been apparent that the attacks were perpetrated by magic users. The best people we have are looking to find the cause of what caused this tragedy…” Ferren's voice cracked as more mist threatened to fall from his eyes, the acting king haphazardly wiped away the tears that never fell as he tried to compose himself. He kept his face hidden for a few minutes in silence before he moved his hands to speak again. “We can move on from this tragedy as one but I need the help of every Simulian. We do not have enough food for the winter. As of today, all food is to be brought here to Eleutheria so it can be rationed out appropriately. All are welcome to come and get your daily meals. Those of you traveling great distances will be allowed to get enough for a few days. Every month, we will be shipping out ration bundles to each city and community to sustain. All magical beings wanting their rations are required to provide their registrations. This is to keep us all safe and uphold peace of mind. We have also decided to place a special barrier around the capitol to help further protect the food we will all need to survive. It kills me to have to do this to you all. Rationing will leave us all hungry as we try our best to make it through these trying times. I encourage everyone to do what they can to provide for their families. If you have extra, please give it to those that need it more than you. Hunters, share your bounties as you get them. Farmers that have lost their crops should reach out to us. We can provide seed to hopefully grow something before the cold seasons hit. We will make it through and come out better for it. May the Gods bless us and help usher us through the trials they felt, we as a people, needed to endure.” "If you have any questions relating to the recent events, any citizen of Simul is welcome to write to me directly. You may also tag Malum Distantia via Simul Social. Please Simul, love thy neighbor as they were your own family. We will succeed." OOC Note: Timberholde, as a whole, was very obliged to follow these orders. Send Send Send Send No Updates Yet Most Recent Update Views Back to Top
