  • Simul Quartlery - Bruma 20th, 10,018 | Kingdom of Simul

Library of Shit Category Simul Quartlery - Bruma 20th, 10,018 Simul Quartlery - Bruma 20th, 10,018 Greetings Dear Simulians, It is my honor to bring you the most recent news possible. Stay in the know, Simul, and keep yourselves, your families and friends safe and healthy! The winter months are starting to come to an end, albeit, with some cold fronts still moving in. Ferren and our capitol are still making sure every soul is fed and warm, even while we send aide toward Korrig and Dry Gulch to get the ports and trade running again. We do appreciate all of your patience while this is being accomplished. Please keep an eye out for your neighbors, friends. We are all in this together. On a more serious note, recent numbers of registrations have brought to light that there are still those who would rather hold onto some sort of 'freedom' rather than make their fellow humanoids comfortable. As much as we understand that registering all magic and items associated, we must come together in order to save lives. Yes, the processes and laws being passed may seem inconvenient and invading, but it is for the betterment of Simul. With this being said, Ferren has made an announcement that there will be more a presence of the King's Guard posted around Simul. Please carry your registrations at all times, as failing to provide identification can and will lead to, and not limited to, imprisonment and fines. Keep your eyes peeled, Simul. This new law has been implemented due to more attacks and senseless killings that have been reported to the capitol. According to witnesses and subsequent investigations, there have been a total of three different attacks on Simul soil in the last week with a death toll of 76. Each and every attack has been associated with the mysterious robed figures as well as heavy use of magics. Alongside of implementation of the new laws and guards, the following statements have come directly from our new fearless leader, Ferren: "All magic academies/schools will now be under heavy scrutiny and guard. As of now, all magic schools must close their doors to operations, effective immediately. Unfortunately, until all residents inside of our kingdom are registered, we must contain all magic use to the best of our abilities. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." "Portals to the 'outside' cities will be cut off from the mainland, effective immediately. Due to the lack of cooperation from Arcanus Aecor, Occultatem Terra, and Astu Aether, the capitol has decided, for the moment, that it is best to shut the portals down. Any and all rations that are needed for survival will be transported by the King's Guard once per month until each city can contain itself or they comply. This also stands for the islands of Curet Insula. Since the obliteration of the bridge that connected both lands, it has been decided to keep the severance until further notice." "Simul's food stores have been raided. This will cause more chaos than necessary. Please, be patient and have faith in your new capitol leaders during this trying time. In less than two months, crops should be back in the swing. With our efforts in saving our docks and trade cities, we hope that there will be an easier time feeding all. Please continue to fetch your rations in a timely manner. If you have any suggestions on how to stretch your food, share on Simul Social for your fellow neighbors." On our final note, we here at Coexisting Connections ask that you report anything suspicious. Keep your telegems close. Record everything. Report everything. The only way we strive is to survive, and we are going to strive, Simul. This is Lucius Scarletwound, reporting the news. Stay safe Simul. • Eleutheria | Kingdom of Simul

Eleutheria Welcome to Simul's capitol: Eleutheria. This beautiful city is located on an island in the middle of Lake Chester. Lake Chester is a much larger lake than Lake Torra located in the south. Atop the island is the King and Queen's residence that has an open door policy during the day, as it is heavily guarded. Travel on foot throughout is made possible through the many golden walls or towers found on the inner or outer walls. All are welcome within its walls. The King and Queen encourage all throughout the land to not only visit, but to reside in their castle city. The place is big enough to house a large city. The people are more than friendly, and thus, there is rarely any notable crime. This is also due to the highly trained mages patrolling the area on a constant basis. It is said that the atmosphere is lovely enough to soothe even the darkest of hearts. The first level is home to most of the occupants. The second has more upscale homes and shops. The third level is the royal home. Year Incorporated: 122 Population: Approximately 20,000 Human: 63% Elven: 17% Dwarven: 5% Other: 15% Magically inclined: Approximately 11% Updates Black Garden Asylum In the deepest parts of Eleutheria, there is rumored to be a prison, run by the worst warden anyone has ever heard of. They don't even know her name...Well...not so much as rumor. More of one of those stories you tell your children at night. "Don't be bad unless you want to end up in Black Garden Asylum. Where all the bad people have to stay forever." Little do most know, this is actually the case. Within the castle city, where only few know, there lies a massive prison. One that only a RARE select few have ever been released from. Inside of this horrid place, hidden far from the citizens, is a maze of stone walls and cages separated only by the mass amount of arch mages who live and work there. Their job? To siphon all energies from the inmates. Magical, mental, life force. Anything they have to, every second of every day, in order to weaken all who are contained. Every cell is divided by nearly a half mile of concrete and steel. The rest of the rooms? Those are for the workers. Never a split second goes by that someone is left alone. This does not happen, as the inmates are inmates for a reason. Not only is it impossible to get in, but impossible to get out. Smoldering Sword Those looking for high quality weapons and armor that find themselves in The Smoldering Sword have found just what they are looking for. Each weapon is made to order, though there is a shop of pre-mades as the front entrance. The smith, Charles, has no ability to make enchanted weapons. If you buy, you are buying good, old fashions steel. The Dancing Mug A place welcoming to all travelers who seek shelter and company after great adventures! Come here to reunite with great dealers, claim rewards, gamble your life away, drink up your problems! Doesn't matter who you are or what you are or where you are from. As long as you don't destroy the place, for the owner, Farrah, will mess your day up! The Magistera The Magistera is one of the world's-or at least, so the academy's headmistress, Mrs G, will claim-greatest and most prestigious places of arcane knowledge. It is here that aspiring young mages, and more elderly ones just looking to brush up on their skills and learn a few new things, as wisdom is not exclusive to the youth, come from all across the continent to learn, practice, and unlock the full potential of the magical arts. The academy is known for having a deeply expansive library filled to the brim with books on arcane subjects ranging from the very basics to knowledge of exotic magical dealings you've never heard of originating from far-off lands. Of course, the academy offers not just educational services but is the place to go if you have to deal with some unfortunate magical trouble or need expert advice. Curses, magical diseases, just need some advice? The academy can help! The headmistress, Mrs G, may look like a young woman, but her intelligence is beyond her outward appearance. Chester Port The only way to go from Wingston to Eleutheria without teleporting or flying or swimming would be through Port Chester. Just on the outside of Elutheria's main entrance, one can catch a boat, big or small to and from. Most of the time, the big boats are run by Ryan. The smaller boats are for rent, as long as you return them unscathed! Vombri Healingfist Vrombi may not look like it, but the dwarven man is the best healer in all of Eleutheria. His schedule is often booked with the mundane. Cuts and bumps and bruises. When he is not tending to the local drunkards and their scuffles, Vrombi can be found wandering around the royal part of the castle tending to the King's Guard. He is also very versed with women giving birth. A very rare sight to see: A male midwife. Pages of Time The largest library and book store in all of Simul sits deep inside of Eleutheria. With acres of papers, Pages of Time has rooms that haven't been touched in decades. You will often find yourself among others camping out inside of the building, hoping to find that rare piece of literary mastery. You may want to bring your own camping gear. A lonely librarian by the name of Elijah Gadiel runs this massive collection and is one of the most friendly day walking vampires you could meet! Marge's Tavern More information HERE Grub Grabs From dragon to cow, Jean and Sean have your meats! Cut to order, and even kept chilled until the time is right to slice, Grub Grabs is the freshest in the land. Each piece of meat is cut with tender care and wrapped with enchanted paper to keep it as fresh as long as possible. Some can even travel between cities before needing to cook it. Betty's Bakery Got a sweet tooth you just need to satisfy? Come down to Betty's Bakery! As you can tell, she too likes to partake in the deliciousness that is her own baked goods. Revered across Eleutheria as one of the best bakers in the land, Betty can make anyone a believer in sweets. Black Garden Asylum In the deepest parts of Eleutheria, there is rumored to be a prison, run by the worst warden anyone has ever heard of. They don't even know her name...Well...not so much as rumor. More of one of those stories you tell your children at night. "Don't be bad unless you want to end up in Black Garden Asylum. Where all the bad people have to stay forever." This does not happen, as the inmates are inmates for a reason. Not only is it impossible to get in, but impossible to get out. The High Night Considered one of the most plush taverns in Eleutheria, The High Night offers amazingly luxurious rooms for a decent price. Clean drinks and even cleaner washrooms, Ellis takes care of her patrons and makes sure they leave relaxed and refreshed. A Cup Above The Rest Eleutheria, the beautiful capitol of Simul. Full of shops with reputations of being the best. A Cup Above the Rest is no exception. High quality potions and concoctions await your shopping spree! Silent, brooding…. bored. The old man who had fancied himself a God had finally had enough boredom. It was time to… Mix things up. Achromas, the Time Wizard. Oh yes, a wizard who had studied the forbidden arts of Time Manipulation. An old man who had been personally removed from the mainland of Simul and chose to stick close just for the r ight time to, well, fuck some shit up. I mean, the dude is mad, right? And with things so peaceful, he thinks it’s time to fuck it up. Misery loves company. Now, one can not simply fuck shit up without some sort of incentive to make people want to fuck it up with him, riiiiiight? Right. What better of a way than to offer something in return for volunteers to his little party? Yes, indeed. The old man Achromas has put together a little prize for this occasion. What is this glorious item that could break the world (Or so he thinks so?)? A pendant. Keep reading, I swear, it gets more interesting. Achromas has set his sights on all of Simul. Library of Shit Category Occultatum Terra Occultatum Terra Year 954 Month of Frigus A large earthquake buried this beautiful city. Due to the portal being buried above surface and no other way to make it to the top, the people of Occultatum Terra were unable to repair it. Making due with the beautiful bounty of the inner earth around them, they continued to live, cut off from the world above. Year 10,012 Month of Ceres Yet another massive earthquake has hit Simul. Two portals were uncovered from thousands of years of land mass motion. After discovery, it was found that there was a massive underground city that had yet to see the light of day in hundreds of generations. The people are welcoming, but lack a lot of social skills. • Sudbury | Kingdom of Simul

Library of Shit Updates Heading 2 Sudbury Year 10,012 Month of Calor The blight of Sidisi has now reached Sudbury. Korrig had it easy compared to the total destruction of the magical town once known as Sudbury. Now, a giant mess of nothing, it appears Sidisi will not stop there. Will this terror come to an end? We can only hope. Year 10,012 Month of Ignis The beast master Kragg has come and cleaned out the city on Timothy Slade's orders. However...he had stuck around for a little longer than anticipated. The people of Simul came together and took out the smallest of minions, driving the large troll back out. Now the city is rebuilding and thriving as it once did. Year 10,012 Month of Ceres The city of Sudbury has finally been rebuilt. The good people of the kingdom had come from all over to try and restore the city to its former glory, and nearly succeeding. Almost as if the Lich King Sidisi had never laid his disturbing touch upon the land. Though, his name still rings in the ears of those who lived through the ordeal. Messis 2, 10,017 Read more in BREAKING NEWS Laughter and merriment could be heard throughout the kingdom as the farmers were once again celebrating another good harvest. Food and drink flowed freely as the unsuspecting people of Simul were watched from the shadows. Hooded figures lurked just outside of anyone's sight, their eyes set on one target; the very food the farmers were celebrating . Not just what they had harvested already, but all of their fields. Every piece of wheat, bean, or ear of corn was doomed. The robed figures kept watch just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. They waited until almost everyone had gone to sleep. Those that remained in the fields or the barns were too drunk to notice anything. Even if they had been sober, they would not be able to stop what was about to happen. Once the robed figures felt it was time to move, they did . Flames roared to life around them to burn every last plant to cinders. Nothing was spared. Nothing. Anything and everything that stood in their way burned with the precious crops. Enough food for dozens of families turned to ash before anyone realized what was going on. The smell of smoke and the sound of roaring flames pulled everyone from their beds. Horror and panic hit everyone who witnessed it. Men, women and children all did what they could to put out the flames...though, their efforts were in vain. The heat from the fires evaporated the water before it could even reach the flames. Screams for water...screams for help. Many could even be heard calling out to the mages they had shunned. Asking... no, begging for help. Those that could have helped cowered behind their locked doors, fearful of what could happen if they rendered aide. Great numbers of magical and non-human beings fled from their homes as registrations became more common, alongside the growing racism against them, leaving the human communities more vulnerable than they had ever dreamed. This was not an isolated incident; farms across the kingdom were burned. Dry Gulch, SkyHaven, Subury, Wingston, Timberholde, Ferax Villum, and even Concordia were hit alongside multiple other villages and farming areas. It was almost the same story at every farm that was burning: Those that could have helped refused. A small few cities managed to save food. Their mages were quick to respond and quell as many of the fires as they could. However, even with their quick actions, much of their food was destroyed. What could be salvaged was inventoried and stored in the safest places people could find. Alongside the massive loss to the winter food supply, hundreds of people and livestock were also slain. The countless lives and resources that were lost in the night left all that witnessed the horrors of it choking on the smoke and ash of their dreams . What witnesses hoped was a sick nightmare was revealed to be anything but. The nightmare was real and no one knew what to do. Cries of sorrow and a strange letter filled the air. The letter was simply written on paper bearing the Guardian's seal; “We of the CONGREGATION will not be silent. If the King won't hear our cries, we will make him. We will starve him out if we have to, along with anyone else who would follow his laws.” The news of all the fires across the kingdom had the streets of Eleutheria humming with hectic whispers or outright blame against magic users. Conspiracy theories about what happened spread like wildfire; The letters from the “CONGREGATION”, and the Guardians had everyone terrified. They were all looking to Ferren for answers. No word came for hours, confirming for the people that what happened was far worse than before. Eventually, Ferren emerged from the castle to stand on the highest balcony of the capitol. His normally charismatic voice was filled with sadness as it echoed through the heart of Simul. Even his appearance suggested he had not slept. His clothes were a rumbled mess and his hair was far from tamed. Redness surrounded his eyes from intense crying. “It is with a heavy heart that I address you all in such a manner. I am sure you have all heard the news by now. Our kingdom…has suffered a tremendous loss. The crops that normally sustain us through the long winter have been destroyed. Burned to a crisp alongside the brave men and women who tried to stop the inferno. Their sacrifice ensured that everyone could gather and defeat our oldest of foes. The cause of the fires is still unknown but we believe it to be a series of horrible accidents. I would love nothing more than to believe that, but with witnesses coming forward, it has been apparent that the attacks were perpetrated by magic users. The best people we have are looking to find the cause of what caused this tragedy…” Ferren's voice cracked as more mist threatened to fall from his eyes, the acting king haphazardly wiped away the tears that never fell as he tried to compose himself. He kept his face hidden for a few minutes in silence before he moved his hands to speak again. “We can move on from this tragedy as one but I need the help of every Simulian. We do not have enough food for the winter. As of today, all food is to be brought here to Eleutheria so it can be rationed out appropriately. All are welcome to come and get your daily meals. Those of you traveling great distances will be allowed to get enough for a few days. Every month, we will be shipping out ration bundles to each city and community to sustain. All magical beings wanting their rations are required to provide their registrations. This is to keep us all safe and uphold peace of mind. We have also decided to place a special barrier around the capitol to help further protect the food we will all need to survive. It kills me to have to do this to you all. Rationing will leave us all hungry as we try our best to make it through these trying times. I encourage everyone to do what they can to provide for their families. If you have extra, please give it to those that need it more than you. Hunters, share your bounties as you get them. Farmers that have lost their crops should reach out to us. We can provide seed to hopefully grow something before the cold seasons hit. We will make it through and come out better for it. May the Gods bless us and help usher us through the trials they felt, we as a people, needed to endure.” "If you have any questions relating to the recent events, any citizen of Simul is welcome to write to me directly. You may also tag Malum Distantia via Simul Social. Please Simul, love thy neighbor as they were your own family. We will succeed." OOC Note: Sudbury, as a whole, refused to follow these orders. This lead to the city being marched upon by the Siphon Mages and forced to provide 80% of their stores which were brought to Eleutheria. Library of Shit Category BREAKING NEWS (January 14, 2024) BREAKING NEWS (January 14, 2024) BREAKING NEWS As someone who is magical, I find myself very concerned with the recent breaking stories we have had to covere here at Coexisiting Connections. But it is my duty to keep the people of Simul informed, and I will always keep that promise. Less than 24 hours ago, it was brought to our attention that there was a murder in Gao Shan. 32 year old Yang Da of Gao Shan was murdered in his back garden. According to GSP, Yang was shoveling a path to his back shed when he was attacked. Witnesses stated they they had heard the screams of the young man. One neighbor said they had rushed outside and saw Yang being attacked by an unnamed assailant dressed in dark robes that masked their face. However, it was also reported that the attacker had used a fire magic. "All I saw was fire coming from their hands while they punched and kicked Mr. Da. I tried to climb the gate, but I was too late. The murderer sprouted wings and disappeared into the sky!" GSP ask for the people to keep a vigilant stance and report anything suspect. Our condolences go out to Yang's family. • Giggles and Shits | Kingdom of Simul

Library of Shit Updates Heading 2 Giggles and Shits Seven years ago, there was a Krampus Rumble. Four years ago, Yeti Confetti sought his revenge. Now... What remained of the elven and reindeer army has come...to fuck shit up. Televisions around Simul played various little shows and news broadcasts. The evening for the normal household still enthralled in the new technology, sitting upon their couches and chairs and splayed across floors, watched whatever their hearts desired. Something funny then happened. At exactly 5:22 PM, every TV and telegem chimed. One bell. Then two. Then a haunting third chime echoed. The screens went black. Then bright. "Simul sucks!" The unbodied voice screeched. White knuckled fingers gripped the sides of a piece of aged parchment as they held it up against the screen, making damn sure anyone paying enough attention could see and read it. "We are coming for you! Meet us in eight days on the bigg-highest mountain in Eld-Uld-Aldermans! Long live the Confettis!" Every screen that had been taken over would go back to its previously schedule crap, leaving everyone who had bore witness to whatever fuckery THAT was to wonder...and eventually, put two and two together. The Confettis were now haunting Simul from their graves through their army of tiny terrors and flesh-eating mammals. Who will become the hero against the stank and explosion brigade? • Gao Shan | Kingdom of Simul

Gao Shan Gao Shan: A hidden gem among the eastern side of the Alderman Mountains. If you happen to make it there, be prepared for beautiful scenery and a peaceful surrounding. The citizens love to tend to their gardens and paint their homes in beautiful rainbows of purple and yellow and red. They take great pride in their dwellings, which is easy to see. The city is quiet, the people are private, and you can find yourself asylum among its walls. This is upheld by its protectors. You wouldn't want to find yourself in a bind here. Troublemakers are not welcome. Year Incorporated: 1500 Population: Approximately 10,000 Human: 67% Elven: 20% Dwarven: 3% Other: 10% Magically Inclined: Approximately 12% Updates Kora's Karamels A bakery and sweets shop run by a woman named Kora, a kitsune who dedicates her life to the sweet and tooth-killing. All sorts of strange candies can be found here as well as most varieties of baked goods, in the style of her homeland and the style of the natives of Simul. As a second measure to save money, she will also offer massages in the back if you can pay. Lady Thay N'oes Got yourself into some trouble again, didn't ya? No worries. Lady Thay N'oes is here to take care of you in a snap! Often faced with the protectors of Gao Shan who just so happen to cut themselves frequently (How strange, right?), Lady Thay is well known for her excellent patches and stitches. Not just a healer, Lady Thay is an amazing midwife. Having brought over a thousand children into the world in her day, she can take care of you in every which way! (HA! THAT FREAKING RHYMED! XD) Chartam Collection Gao Shan is known for having such high standards. Not only in the community, but in appearance. One would think the library would be just as organized and upheld. Looking at it from the outside would also give this assumption. Walking into the doors, however, you will be met with a mess of books. Not because the caretaker, Song, does not care. But because there is a literal dragon on premises. Yes. His name is Noodle. He has no abilities that normal dragons have. No fire breath. Flightless. And he is about as big as a small dog. Messy should have been his middle name. Constantly pulling books from the shelves just to plop down on top of them. He may be a dragon, but he is quite friendly! The Mystic Deer A tavern run by a retired samurai from across the sea named Sho Mayozaki. A katana hangs above the fireplace and the smell of cherry blossoms wafts constantly through the air. The place is designed in typical Gao Shanese style, though it also incorporates a little bit of foreign styles as well. It is said to have the best sake in the city, and the wisdom imparted by the owner is not something to take for granted. Chai Out A tea shop that sells many teas that are native to the people of Gao Shan. The owner, Sayaki Kimosana, is known for believing heavily in things like chakra and karma, and offers many spiritual methods of help on the side. It is believed that she infuses her teas with mystical energies, leaving people who drink it notably refreshed. Steel Arms Steel Arms, located within Gao Shan, is one of the most prestigious and decorated blacksmiths in all of Simul. With a steady employee count of twelve, items are often made rather quickly. The head of the shop, Xia, is the one who takes the orders, but doles them out appropriately. Engraved on every piece, you will find their stamp of approval, the red cat. No one quite knows what it stands for other than the smiths themselves showing off. The Red Sea The Red Sea is a park and garden located in Gao Shan. Here, the grass is dotted by thickets of cherry blossoms, also known as sakura trees. It is a popular spot for picnics and meditation, and there is a large pond with fish from other lands. The park is home to a man known only as the Flower Sage, who seems to be a true expert on all things flora and fauna. Even the most obscure questions he knows the answer to. Many seek his wisdom on unrelated matters he is viewed as so wise, like relationship issues. He usually tells these people to go away. Tonic Tonic is such a simple name for such a sinister looking shop. Upon entering, you will be greeted with many different looking bottles filled what seems to be souls of the damned.
